Partridge Holme is a well-regarded cottage praised for its exceptional location in Windermere, offering easy access to local amenities and the lake. Guests appreciate the quietness, cleanliness, and the comfortable beds, though some noted areas for improvement in maintenance and comfort. The cottage's charm and convenience for exploring the Lake District make it a popular choice.
The majority of guests found the cottage to be very clean, with only a few isolated comments about webs and a specific odour in one room. The positive remarks on cleanliness far outweigh the negatives.
The location is consistently praised for being central, quiet, and close to shops, restaurants, and the lake, making it an ideal base for exploring Bowness and the Lake District.
Guests found the beds comfortable and the cottage cosy, although some mentioned issues with mattress protectors, stuffy rooms, and the need for better duvets and fans in warmer weather.
The cottage is equipped with quality appliances and the kitchen is well-regarded. However, guests have pointed out maintenance issues such as the grill element, bathroom blind, and light gaps in curtains that need addressing.
There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the hosts. Therefore, this category cannot be scored.
An immaculately-presented terraced stone cottage, perfectly located in one of the oldest parts of Bowness-on-Windermere in the heart of the Lake District and next door to a boating club. This charming Bowness cottage has an open plan living area with little nooks and crannies - a gentle reminder that this former sailmaker's cottage dates back to the 19th century. With a well-equipped kitchen and two bedrooms, this Bowness cottage is perfect for holidays in this bustling lakeside town. A short stroll from this Bowness cottage takes you into the heart of the village, and all the excellent restaurants, bars and shops that are on the doorstep. The Glebe, the park nestling on the shores of Lake Windermere, is only a very short distance and has a pitch-and-putt course, tennis courts and play area. Overlooking the lake, it is a perfect place for enjoying the beautiful scenery on your doorstep. The Windermere Steamers also depart from The Glebe taking passengers up and down Lake Windermere to Brockhole, Ambleside and Lakeside. Row boats can also be hired and taken out on to the lake. Brockhole is the National Park's visitor centre and has some beautiful gardens and an adventure play area. It is also home to a treetop trek for the more adventurous guests. This part of the Lake District has a very wide appeal - perfect for families, with a host of watersports and mountain biking available, and great for couples wishing to enjoy the romantic beauty of the lakes and mountains. A lovely Bowness cottage for a year-round break.
The twin towns of Bowness and Windermere both provide a range of amenities, shops and restaurants, plus boat trips are available from Bowness to Ambleside, the Lakeside Aquarium and Beatrix Potter's 'Hill Top House' at Sawrey. Orrest Head, where Alfred Wainwright was inspired to write his series of iconic guidebooks, is on the edge of the town, plus Grizedale Forest Park is nearby and there are many National Trust properties in the area.

We booked for 4 adults and the second bedroom is too small with limited wardrobe space.not suitable for 4 adults. A note about how to switch on the shower on the bathroom wall is needed plus slip mat for bath. Several channels on tv not available, bathroom door lock not working, dirty pan found in cupboard, gas stove ..when you try to switch on gas ignition keeps bleeping, small 2nd bedroom hiding mould in corner ,key box is in poor position difficult to access and inconvient when coming back in evening.

Enjoyed week stay very much.

Very small compact but comfortable stay. Beds were good. The cottage had everything required although we did leave a comment that a slip mat would be helpful in the bath and that their description to collect the key was confusing. It mentioned going down an alley but maybe should have just said the key could be located at the rear of the property. Great location for us with all we needed and a lovely stay.
