Chapel Stile 0.7 miles. Situated in the rural village of Elterwater near Chapel Stile in Cumbria is Woodloft Cottage, a characterful single-storey dwelling. Well-positioned within the Lake District National Park, and a short car journey away from Lake Windermere and its wealth of attractions.
The cottage welcomes two guests, making it the perfect base for a romantic break. Entering the bright and spacious open-plan living space, feel at home whilst preparing hearty meals in the well-equipped kitchen, gathering around the dining table, and snuggling up in front of the electric fire, all enveloped by original beamed ceilings.
On sunny days, discover the conservatory, flooded with natural light, where you can choose to dine alfresco or simply enjoy a tipple or two as the sun sets.
As sleep calls, step up into the king-size bedroom, complete with a grand iron bed frame, and ample storage, before refreshing in the sleek shower room come morning.
Grab on your walking boots and head into Chapel Stile where you'll find various amenities to ease your self-catering stay, along with the chance to visit Skelwith Force waterfall, Wordsworth Grasmere Museum, and Cathedral Cave, perfect for touring.
Heading towards Ambleside, enjoy strolls around Borrans Park, with the chance to reach Lake Windermere, or take in the beauty of Stock Ghyll Force, a 70-foot waterfall. Windermere is a must-visit whilst on your travels, home to an abundance of attractions, walking trails and landmarks, with prime favourites including The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, Hill Top Beatrix Potter House, Wray Castle, Windermere Lake Cruises, and Treetop Lake District, recommended for the energetic bunch of your group.

Chapel Stile is a charming little community tucked up in the stunning Lake District National Park. A fantastic hidden gem, the village is situated at the bottom of a magnificent valley, bordered on one side by the River Brathay, surrounded by breath-taking landscape, and boasting wonderful slate and stone structures. The village features a historic church built in the middle of the nineteenth century as well as a café, a pub, and a local store that has been around for well over a century. Chapel Stile is a fantastic starting point for touring this National Park because it provides quick access to many interesting vistas and fells.
