Packed full of character, charm and creature comforts, Gable End is a lovingly restored Grade II listed brick and flint cottage located in the pretty conservation village of Great Snoring, just six miles inland from the coast at Wells-next-the-Sea. A truly delightful place to stay all around the year, this hideaway is perhaps extra special between May and the end of September when a heated swimming pool is available for guests to enjoy.
In keeping with the period of the cottage which dates back to the Golden Age era, Gable End enjoys a wealth of beamed and vaulted ceilings, inglenook fireplaces, pamment tiled floors and parquet flooring, all beautifully combined with subtle updating and sympathetic styling. Entering the cottage from the side entrance, you walk into a glazed entrance lobby, where wet coats, boots and dogs can be left to dry. From here a mid-height oak gateway opens to a modern fitted galley shaker style, fully equipped kitchen, perfect for when you are in the mood to create something delicious to eat, maybe made with some local produce, and opt to 'dine in'. The remainder of the ground floor comprises a spacious beamed dining room that leads through to the cosy sitting room at the far end of the cottage, with both rooms overlooking the gardens and divided by an inglenook chimney breast, with a wood burning stove on the sitting room side to light when the days shorten and become a tad cooler. Upstairs on the first floor you will find three bedrooms, all with vaulted ceilings - a master suite with a luxurious super-king size bed, and adjoining bathroom with bathtub, a double bedded room and a twin room with one full-size single bed, and a smaller bed suitable for young children, both serviced by a family shower room. Outside the cottage has a spacious garden laid mainly to lawn and off-road parking for two cars.
Gable End is a super solution for both couples and families who are looking for a relaxing, peaceful break away, while having the added bonus of their own swimming pool in the summer months and being within easy reach of the glorious local coastline, teeming with bird life and stunning beaches. The village Great Snoring also offers convenient access to the local market town of Fakenham, as well the Georgian villages of Holt and Burnham Market, both a little further afield.
