The Old Granary is a beautifully converted Grade II listed, detached brick and timber framed wherry granary which now offers characterful and charming accommodation set over three floors. Commanding uninterrupted views across the River Ant, which runs underneath the property, views can be enjoyed from most rooms and the enclosed seating verandah. Formerly used as wherry bays where the grain was dropped into the boats waiting and transported along the waterway, a unique viewing window of the river has been constructed within the living room for your enjoyment. A two seater kayak is included for guests to peacefully explore the waterways. The neighbouring boatyard offers daily hire of motor launches to explore the miles of magnificent waterways.
A short drive, or walking distance of the town of Stalham with its shops, cafe, restaurants and pubs, and within an easy drive of the Norfolk Broads and Norfolk’s coastline. The location could not be better for keen fishermen, having direct access to the river from the garden and more fishing locations are available locally (seasonal and licence required). The Norfolk Broads Museum is situated next door where you can discover the history of boating and The Broads. Wroxham, known as the capital of the Broads, is only 8 miles away. A great family fun day out can be had at Bewilderwood, a tree top adventure in Horning.
The seaside resort of Sea Palling is 5 miles away, or for quieter sandy beaches, take a trip to Waxham and Horsey. The city of Norwich makes for a great day out, with its cathedral, theatre, castle museum, excellent shopping, restaurants and cafés. Enjoy a day at the seaside resort of Great Yarmouth, only 16 miles away. The Weavers Way runs through the town and provides good walking and cycling opportunities. Supermarket, shops, pubs, and restaurants 1 mile.

We had a lovely weekend at The Old Granary. Took us a couple of days to find the information folder which was hidden away in a kitchen drawer. Some more tea towels and a pair of oven gloves would be useful. Also the slipway was pretty overgrown which made getting in and out of the canoe very tricky. Overall though a wonderful weekend experience.

Amazing historic property with small waterside garden, and decking area.Be aware that the huge kitchen windows overlook the museum and therefore there isn't a lot of privacy unless you keep the blinds down. As the blinds are quite thin material, this isn't always possible either.Be aware also that for our visit, the downstairs small bedroom was locked, and the first floor has a King size bed and a room with one single bed with very basic spring mattress. To get to the other two double bedrooms, you have to go up a very steep ladder. There is also a grass bank to the front door, and steps to get to the kitchen door or patio doors.Very good property for fit people.Having done the 'access' bit, thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we certainly would recommend it. Very helpful owners, also.

Ideal for the five adults in our family group (two couples and a single). Very comfortable, spacious and well-equipped. We made good use of the canoe provided. Only wish we could have stayed more than two nights! The main negative factors were the earliest arrival time of 17.00 and latest departure of 09.00. 16.00 and 10.00 would have led to a more relaxed holiday. Not suitable for anyone with mobility issues, because of the elevated front door and the stairs to the top floor, or young children, owing to the proximity of the water.
