Enveloped by open countryside, near the village of Ponteland in a superb region of Northumberland, is Fenwick Lodge, a Grade ll Listed Building, the former gatehouse to Matfen Hall. Located next to the owner's home and with easy access of the historical landmark Hadrian's Wall, and the cultural cities of Newcastle and Durham, this chocolate-box cottage is perfect for well-earned break in the country. The house boasts some beautiful aspects, such as the stone gatepiers at the entrance, the coat of arms above the front door and a ha-ha wall, which preserves uninterrupted views of the landscape beyond. Head through the church-style entrance hall, which has an exquisite tiled floor, arched windows and the original front door welcoming you inside. You can fully relax within the cosy sitting area on return from one of your many adventures, the open-plan living room is rather spacious with everything you could possibly need in a self-catering holiday let. Cook up a romantic meal in the well-equipped kitchen and enjoy a candlelit dinner at the dining table before climbing up to bed later in the evening. When you have finished dining, why not take the opportunity to gaze up to the stars? Fenwick Lodge is located so close to the Northumberland International Dark Sky Park, which will take your breath away. The super king size bed rests under the eaves, with a lovely feature fireplace and an en-suite shower room, allowing you to get ready in style each morning and evening. A warm summer's day will invite you out to share a moment on the front lawn, you can sit on the garden chairs, crack open a refreshing bottle of wine and soak up the country atmosphere. You have plenty to do in the surrounding area, the nearest pub is at the village of Stamfordham, whilst a variety of shops, restaurants and golf club are located just over 6 miles away, in Ponteland. On your doorstep you are situated on the Reivers cycle route which is part of the national cycle network. Matfen Hall Hotel Golf and Spa only 2 miles away and The Northumberland Coast is only a short drive away, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Also being close to the North Pennines and Northumberland National Park, while a thriving nightlife and superb shopping experiences can be enjoyed in the city of Newcastle. Ponteland is set on the River Pont with much shops, restaurants, and a traditional village pub. The Metro centre is only 7 miles away, Hadrians Wall can be accessed from various places nearby, and the towns of Morpeth, Hexham and Corbridge are all just a short drive away. The city of Newcastle can be accessed either by car or by public transport, offering plenty more to see and do.
