Guests say

East Havers is a well-received cottage, praised for its cleanliness, comfort, and well-kept garden, making it a hit with dog owners. Its proximity to amenities and the coast is appreciated, although some noted traffic noise from the nearby A1. Guests have enjoyed the thoughtful welcome gifts and the property's cosy atmosphere.

The majority of guests found the cottage to be clean and well-maintained, with only a few mentioning areas ready for a deep clean or the presence of cobwebs and wildlife. The overall impression is of a property that is kept to a high standard of cleanliness.

The location is generally seen as excellent for exploring Northumberland, with easy access to local amenities and the coast. However, some guests were disappointed with the proximity to the A1 and an industrial area, which affected the tranquillity expected from a holiday cottage.

Guests frequently complimented the comfort of the cottage, mentioning comfortable beds, a cosy living area, and a warm welcome. The property is described as a comfortable base for exploring the surrounding area.

The cottage is well-equipped with modern amenities and a secure garden, although some guests noted a lack of basic supplies and maintenance issues like door adjustments. The facilities generally meet guests' needs, but there is room for improvement in ensuring all minor details are attended to.

Several guests were delighted by the welcome gifts, which added a personal touch to their stay. However, it should be noted that such gestures, while appreciated, are not guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

Settled into the outskirts of the historic market town of Alnwick, East Havers is a stunning single-storey barn conversion which is ideal for a family of three or a couple looking for a Northumberland getaway. Be welcomed by the charming exterior of this property, a barn conversion with pretty sage windows and doors, and unpack with ease from an off-road parking spot. Settle down with a coffee into a lovely sitting room, featuring a TV, selection of stylish sofas, homely décor and a beautiful arched full-length window with a glass door, leading out onto an enclosed courtyard where you can relax with a glass of your favourite beverage in an evening. When mealtimes call, the kitchen/diner, sporting homely décor and ample amenities, will cater to your culinary needs, so why not cook up a storm from local produce? Two bedrooms with hints of lime and tasteful furniture house pretty wooden roof beams, including a king-size and a single, and there is a contemporary bathroom where you can enjoy a relaxing soak amongst the bubbles. Alnwick is a historic market town with so much on offer for guests, beginning with the fantastic range of eateries, as well as riverside walks through Hulne Park and RRH Brizlee Wood. Alnwick is probably best known for its amazing castle, so explore the local history with a trip to Alnwick Castle, and for a seaside day out, head over to Alnmouth where there is a pretty sandy beach. Further from the property you will find more coastal walks and another magnificent castle at Warkworth. Make a rural getaway to remember with a stay at East Havers.

The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market. Alnwick offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat and there is plenty to see and do, with miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands all available nearby. Altogether a superb location for exploring Northumberland and its stunning Heritage Coastline.

Friendly neighbours around the courtyard, the chap across the way gave us wine, chocolates and filter coffee on behalf of Chris the owner which was a kind and thoughtful touch. Thank you. The cottage was cosy and comfortable and easily kept warm with the already set heating times on control panel. Hot water was plentiful. There is a bus stop either side of the road at entrance to Greensfield Moor Farm with regular buses, we caught the Arriva x15, the timetable service we used was to and from Lionheart Enterprise Park, easily looked up on mobile phone. Halfway down the approach road to the cottage is a field with a track across to The Hog's Head which is very dog friendly and we ate there and had drinks on numerous occasions, just be sure to carry a torch if you are likely to be returning to accommodation after dark. Car parking in Alnwick is by way of display a disc and these can be purchased for £1. We bought ours from Northumbria Pet Shop but alternatively the Library at The Playhouse will sell them. We have no hesitation in recommending this property.

Yes it is near A1 unless you sit out it won't affect you. Beautifully decorated and great facilities. The neighbour Chris was very friendly and helpful. Thank you for the lovely gifts and the home grown onions!

It was comfortable and a good size for two people and a dog. Had a lovely welcome gift on arrival from Chris which was very nice, we hope to be back again soon.
