Guests say

Goosander is a well-equipped cottage in Northumberland, praised for its superb location with sea views and proximity to the beach. It's ideal for families and dog owners, offering spacious rooms with en-suites and quality appliances. Guests appreciate the thoughtful welcome basket and pet-friendly amenities.

The property generally maintains good cleanliness, though some guests noted areas for improvement such as deep cleaning, bird droppings near the lounge, and dog hairs. The majority did not raise cleanliness as an issue.

The location is highly praised for its stunning views, easy beach access, and peaceful setting. However, some guests mentioned poor road conditions leading to the property.

While the property offers en-suite double rooms and an infrared sauna, several guests found the sofas and beds uncomfortable, suggesting they may need updating.

Facilities are generally well-regarded, with a well-equipped kitchen and a hot tub. However, there are comments about maintenance issues such as heating, fridge freezer, and light bulbs that need attention.

Guests felt welcomed with a thoughtful basket and dog treats, enhancing their stay. It should be noted that such gestures are a courtesy and may vary.

About this property

Bamburgh 2.2 miles. Part of the contemporary stone-built Heather House development, Goosander is a wonderful Northumberland getaway for a family or group of adults. A stunning stone cottage allows you to unpack with ease from an off-road parking spot and welcomes you into a light and airy open-plan living area, where there is a fantastic stone feature wall housing a woodburning stove and wooden flooring stretching throughout. Here you will be able to curl up with a good book in one of the leather sofas or cook up a storm in the white wood panelled kitchen, where many amenities cater to your culinary needs, and you can enjoy your meal at the dining table, making this a fantastic social hub for all guests to enjoy, as well as allowing for easy access to the patio outside through glass doors. Four homely king-size bedrooms can be found throughout this property, each with their own character, tasteful storage and en-suite shower rooms, and one of the first-floor king-size bedrooms includes a wonderful balcony and one of the ground-floor bedrooms sports French windows. Outside, enjoy coffee in the sunshine on the patio, or there is the option of a sauna adding an air of opulence to your stay. From here you will be able to easily reach Holy Island, where there are many amazing sites to visit, including Lindisfarne Castle, Castle Point Lime Kilns and Lindisfarne Priory, as well as several museums, local shops, eateries and a sandy beach. Explore the coast of Northumberland with a stay at the beautiful Goosander.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.

The photos don’t quite do it justice as the interior was better than we expected and the view was amazing. The only thing missing was a table by the hot tub to put our drinks on. We had a question about the hot tub (they change the water for every new guest which means it takes a while to warm up) but a member of staff came straight out to check it and all was fine. Thank you so much for such a fantastic family holiday.

Directions could be better(need updating). One or two issues with maintenance, light bulbs need changing etc(owners feedback form filled in to list and highlight these). Main complaint as with previous people is the seating in the living area which is low and gives no support(we all have back ache now).
