Periwinkle cottage in Bamburgh is highly praised for its comfort, superb location near the beach, and well-equipped facilities. Guests appreciate the thoughtful touches and the property's cleanliness, though some mention minor maintenance issues. The cottage's charm and the area's beauty contribute to a delightful stay.
The majority of guests found Periwinkle to be clean and well-maintained, with fresh towels and bed linen. However, a few guests noted instances where cleaning was not up to a high standard, affecting the score slightly.
Guests consistently laud the cottage's location for its proximity to the beach and local attractions. The ease of access to stunning Northumberland beaches and historical sites contributes to a high score in this category.
Comfort is frequently mentioned positively, with guests enjoying the cosy and warm atmosphere. Some guests, however, reported issues with mattresses and seating, which suggests room for improvement.
Facilities are generally well-regarded, especially the well-stocked kitchen and Wi-Fi. Points were deducted for comments on maintenance needs, such as garden furniture and some appliances requiring attention.
While guests have mentioned a welcome pack and the provision of cleaning materials, there is insufficient information to determine the consistency of thoughtful gestures such as gifts. Therefore, a score cannot be provided, and guests should note that such amenities are not guaranteed.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.

Cottage was very well maintained and well equipped, beds were comfy. Short walk to the pubs and restaurants in Bamburgh. Would definitely stay here again. Only wish it was dog friendly.

It was super clean with very comfortable beds. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need. The outside space is nice but could do with a bit of maintenance especially the table & chairs - not very comfy or clean. Also the addition of a bbq would be amazing. The tumble dryer was also faulty, no hot air. We very much look forward to coming to stay again!

We had a great week in the cottage as a family of four. It is beautifully designed by the owner however it needs some attention in various different places. The negativesâ¦â¦ 1. Double bed in master. The bed has succumbed to come to wear and tear - my teenage son had to be careful turning over so not to dislodge the slats underneath the mattress. I reported this to maintenance during our stay. 2. Mattress in master has a ridge down the middle which makes you feel like youâre going to roll out of bed. It needs replacing. 2. Front of cottage isnât very appealing and needs some TLC. Weeding, removal of rubbish, painting exterior. 3. Clothes line is old and worn. Itâs also part covered by the over grown trees making it difficult to hang washing out to dry. 4. Garden furniture is ready for the tip. We had to use our picnic chairs when sitting in the garden. We had lovely weather and werenât able to dine in the garden due to the old and tired table and chairs. 5. Most of the windows donât open. 6. The two cream upholstered chairs in the lounge whilst theyâre aesthetically pleasing arenât comfortable to sit and relax on. 7. Water escapes from bath making it near on impossible to bathe therefore we used the showers. The positives â¦. 8. Perfect location near the dunes 9. Beautifully decorated interior with lovely bathrooms. 10. Very clean cottage with well stocked kitchen. It would however be useful to have some plastic plates/bowls for young children. 11. Nice welcome pack which was very much appreciated. A great cottage! A few small tweaks would make it even better.
