Castle Keep is highly praised for its cleanliness, comfort, and prime location in the charming village of Norham. Guests appreciate the well-equipped facilities, the secure garden, and the property's proximity to local shops and scenic walks. The cottage's thoughtful touches, including a generous welcome basket, contribute to a delightful stay, although such gifts are not guaranteed.
Guests consistently note the cottage's exceptional cleanliness, with multiple reviews highlighting its immaculate condition. The property is described as super clean, with no pet odours despite being pet-friendly.
The location is frequently commended for its tranquillity and beauty, with easy access to local amenities and attractions. The village's friendliness and proximity to walking routes and the Northumberland coast are appreciated.
Comfort is a strong point, with guests finding the furniture, including beds and pillows, very comfortable. The cosy atmosphere and the secure garden for pets add to the overall comfort of the stay.
Facilities are generally well-received, though some minor maintenance issues are mentioned, such as a loose door handle and a slow-draining sink. The absence of a dishwasher is noted, and some guests suggest additional improvements.
While the welcome basket is frequently mentioned and adds to the positive experience, there are not enough references to other thoughtful gestures to accurately score this category. It should be noted that such gifts are not guaranteed.

Cottage was warm and cosy with well equipped kitchen and comfortable lounge area. Bedding was of high quality with a good mattress. Towels were a little small and thin. We could have done with a towel rack in the bathroom for drying towels. Hot water in shower didnât really get hot enough - we read previously it had been adjusted down. Possibly this may have caused the temperature to be too low. Local butchers and pub (Masons Arms) are worth a visit. Overall, a wonderful short stay.

We had to move utensils etc. around to provide cupboard space for food but there was ample room. The garden is private and secure, however you do need to go up steps to gain full access which some might find an issue. There is a back entrance but it involves walking round and through other gardens. Water pressure is a struggle at times, - takes a while for the bath to fill and don't turn other taps on whilst someone is in the shower! (The hot water is very definitely hot!) Parking isn't an issue as the 'on-road' parking is still outside the cottage, dependent on how busy it is but we never had a problem with space. Overall, an ideal location for exploring the area and one that we would definitely return to.

Would point out however, that the main light in lounge was not working and the downstairs toilet window would not open. All in all though a beautiful cottage and we would recommend to anyone who was looking for a stay in this lovely village.
