Occupying a superb position on the tranquil outskirts of the delightful village of Embleton in Northumberland, Spuggies Rest offers immaculately-presented accommodation, ideal for families or a small group of family and friends. The spacious sitting room is a truly welcoming space with a large seating area arranged around a gorgeous woodburning stove and sliding doors leading out onto the gardens. You can imagine curling up on the comfy sofa to get warm in the cooler months and soaking up the leafy views over the gardens. The delightful kitchen is of a good size and provides plenty of space and all the facilities needed to produce great food for the whole holiday party and when it’s time to serve up, there is an elegant dining area all ready for guests to pull up a chair and indulge in long, leisurely meals together. The outside space is particularly inviting with extensive gardens, lawns, an orchard and a patio area complete with patio furniture where guests can chill out while children (and any pets!) run around safely. After all that fresh air, it must be time to make your way to bed where you will three fantastically appointed bedrooms, a king-size, a double and a twin, and with two bathrooms to choose from there won’t be a queue for the bathroom either! A great place to wake up in the morning, Spuggies Rest is the ideal base from which to explore the delights of the region. The pretty village of Embleton is just a few minutes’ stroll and there is a fantastic scenic walk from here to the neighbouring village of Craster with the town of Alnwick the ideal location for having a browse and stocking up on essentials. Nearby Embleton Bay is a gorgeous sandy beach loved by adults and dogs alike! Other beaches worth visiting include Beadnell Bay Beach and Newton Haven Beach. Just a few miles away is the stunning Dunstanburgh Castle and if you’ve got a taste for history then check out Alnwick Castle, Preston Tower, Howick Hall and Bamburgh Castle. The pretty village of Embleton is ideally placed for exploring one of the most attractive stretches of Northumberland's Heritage Coastline. A beautiful grassy path runs from the village to neighbouring Craster, alongside the sea and past Dunstanburgh Castle - the largest ruined castle in Northumberland. Embleton itself has a village pub and a local hotel, and there is an excellent range of amenities in nearby Alnwick. The gardens at nearby Howick Hall are open during the summer and are noted for their beauty, whilst Alnwick Castle and Garden are a 'must-see' when visiting the area. For the keen golfer, Dunstanburgh Links Course is about 1 mile away - just one of several excellent courses in the vicinity.

Garden could do with a trim of the bushes and garden furniture with a lick of paint / varnish, but these are only very minor things.

We have already booked for next year. The cottage was warm, welcoming and in a fabulous spot. The accommodation is spacious and the gardens are great for the dog. We are regular visitors to Embleton and this cottage is a favourite. Thank you
