About this property

Escape from your usual daily life in this wonderful little studio on Seahouses Harbour on the Northumberland coast. Stroll along the harbour and choose which boat to book for a memorable trip to the Farne Islands where you will see an array of wildlife including grey seals, puffins in the season, and twenty-plus species of breeding seabirds. Dolphins are regularly seen off this coastline too. Part of the St. Oswald’s Way long-distance trail, you can walk northwards to Bamburgh Castle and its popular village shops, bars and restaurants via the coastal path from Seahouses (3.5 miles), and south to gorgeous Beadnell Bay (3.1 miles). Extend your walks from Seahouses to Low Newton (6.85 miles) and Craster (10 miles).

Accessible directly from Harbour Road, step into this fully refurbished, ground-floor studio hideaway located in the heart of the fishing harbour, where you can enjoy the sights and sounds of the harbour, sea and Farne Islands from your doorstep. The bright and modern living accommodation is open plan with a wall-mounted Smart TV, space to store your things, a double sofa bed (4’6”) that folds back easily during the daytime to make a comfortable sofa, and a small breakfast bar with a bar stool. If you are not eating out, the kitchen facilities include a combination microwave, toaster, and kettle, and there is a mini fridge for keeping your milk cold for your morning cuppa. A sliding door leads to the contemporary shower room with a shower cubicle, heated towel rail, illuminated mirror and WC.

Outside, sit on the original stone lintel to pull on your walking boots, and watch the fishermen, sailors and local traders going about their business while you enjoy a coffee before heading out for your day’s adventure.

The plus points first. Harbour Hideaway is in a fantastic location in Seahouses. Very handy for all the lovely local amenities. The convenient parking space is right outside the property. The decor is modern and the layout well thought out. For the size it is well equipped, the combined microwave is a larger model. We found the sofa bed to be comfortable and easy to convert from sofa to a bed. The views from the property are beautiful, with lovely walks along the coast. However, Harbour Hideaway is very small, once the sofa bed is made up, you can only just walk around it. The main space, not including the front door recess is app 2.3 metres, (less 40cm for the kitchen run, approx 1.9 metres) by 3.2 metres approx. There is a small recess for the front door. We found damp and high levels of humidity to be a problem and have provided the owner with photos. Thankfully we had lovely weather because it would be difficult drying wet coats, shoes and walking coats in such a confined space. There is very little storage space and we had to leave rucksacks, walking shoes and jackets in the car. All bedding and towels are provided but there were only two pillows, for two people. There is not room in the sofa bed storage for all the bedding, we had to leave a pillow out during the day. We stayed for five nights and found it a little challenging because of the lack of space and lack of storage.

Was advised as a whole cottage when we booked when we got there it was one room with a pull out sofa bed which was not very comfortable to sleep or sit on. We found this over priced for 1 room however the location was great short walk from the town and beaches. Wouldn't recommend for a long stay okay for the 3 nights we stayed but wouldn't want to have stayed longer.
