Cliff House in Saltburn-by-the-Sea offers a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and a hot tub, making it a cosy base for exploring nearby attractions. While some guests encountered maintenance issues, the property's cleanliness and the owner's responsiveness were generally appreciated. The property's location on a main road is noted, and a welcome hamper added a thoughtful touch.
Reviews indicate a generally good standard of cleanliness, with some areas needing more attention. Issues such as hairs on bedding and a blocked bath plug were mentioned, but the overall impression suggests a satisfactory level of cleanliness.
The property is well-situated for exploring local beaches and towns like Whitby and Staithes. However, some guests noted traffic noise due to its location on a main road, and mixed feelings about the immediate surroundings in Loftus.
Guests found the beds very comfortable and the central heating effective. The property was described as cosy, with a hot tub that added to the comfort level.
The property boasts a well-equipped kitchen and secure area for pets. However, maintenance issues such as a non-operational hot tub on arrival, sewerage problems, and TV connection issues have affected the score.
The owner's responsiveness and a welcome hamper contributed to a positive experience. However, it should be noted that such gestures are not guaranteed and may vary with each stay.

.. The owner couldn't have been more helpful, both in the run up to our arrival and while we were there (we couldn't figure the heating out!). All very easily resolved - fast and smooth. Cliff House is extremely well-equipped, and very comfortable. It was spotlessly clean and the welcome hamper was a really lovely touch. The beds are comfortable - not too soft, not too hard - and the bed linen soft and fluffy. The central heating is great and gets the house really warm - always a worry in a holiday cottage at this time of year - and we lit the stove every evening. The teens loved the hot tub. The cottage is about 4 houses away from a local shop that sells everything you'd need in a pinch - though at a price premium - while there's a massive Asda, Aldi (and McDonalds!) a 5 minute drive away in Skelton. Loftus itself is... pretty, but not touristy. Which was fine with us. We visited Whitby, Staithes, Saltburn and Skinningrove Beach - which is a must, you can walk from the cottage (15 minutes) but we drove on our way back from Staithes. It's a truly lovely beach. I would highly recommend this cottage and would love to return to visit all of the above places again, on a warm dry day. The weather wasn't kind to us but we had a great break anyway. Tiny improvements - a second bin in the kitchen for recycling, and hooks in the bedrooms for dressing gowns, which we wouldn't usually take on a short break, but hot tub! But honestly, the place has everything you need.

Very secure area for dog and would definitely stay again. Ideal location for local beaches.

It is noisy due to being on the main road of Loftus, so if you like it quiet then this may not be for you. Some areas of the house could have been cleaner, such as drawers, bottom if wardrobe, was a stain on the upstairs window frame, but generally on the whole was a good standard. Cliff house is a great base to explore, close to the North Yorshire National Park, approx 1 hour from Flamingoland, half an hour from Whitby and close to some gorgeous beaches, definetly recommend!!
