Guests consistently praise 'The Station Master's Office' for its impeccable cleanliness, cosy comfort, and thoughtful touches from the hosts, including welcome packs. The property serves as an excellent base for exploring the North York Moors & Coast, with convenient access to local walks and seaside towns. While some guests expected a more picturesque garden, the location's proximity to attractions and public transport is highly valued.
Reviewers unanimously commend the property for its exceptional cleanliness, often describing it as 'spotless' and 'immaculate'. This consistent feedback across multiple reviews strongly indicates a high standard of cleanliness maintained by the hosts.
The property's location is frequently highlighted as ideal for exploring local seaside towns and scenic walks. Despite some comments about the immediate area being less appealing, the convenience for sightseeing and public transport access contributes to a positive assessment of the location.
Comfort is a recurring theme in the reviews, with guests finding the property warm, cosy, and well-furnished. The bed, in particular, receives special mention for its comfort, enhancing the overall experience of a relaxing stay.
Facilities and maintenance are generally praised, with guests satisfied with the amenities provided. However, there are a few remarks about the lack of a picturesque garden and the expectation of seeing trains, which suggests room for improvement in outdoor facilities and accurate representation in photos.
The hosts' thoughtfulness is frequently acknowledged through mentions of welcome packs, festive decorations, and personal touches. While these gestures are greatly appreciated, it is politely noted that such extras, though delightful, are not guaranteed with every stay.
This charming studio cottage is part of the former station master's house, in the hamlet of Liverton Mines on the outskirts of Loftus village. Offering all ground floor accommodation, the property has been tastefully modernised to a high standard. Entry is via a porch to a small kitchen, which leads into the spacious open plan studio, which incorporates a comfortable sitting area, a dining table and a double bed, plus there is a contemporary fully-tiled shower room. With fine attention to detail, the property feels warm and welcoming, in a pleasant setting. Outside, to the rear is a private patio garden, directly adjacent to a commercial goods train line, with six trains trundling by each day. This is not a fast or noisy line, and will undoubtedly interest railway enthusiasts. In fact, part of the fencing has been cut away to afford a better view! Close to some lovely sandy beaches and excellent walking trails, this station annexe is well placed for couples wishing to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside and the popular seaside towns of Saltburn and Whitby. The nearby fishing villages of Staithes and Runswick Bay have strong Captain Cook connections, with small, pretty coves, coble landings and quaint, tiny fishermen's cottages that tumble down towards the sea. Explore the narrow, cobbled alleyways and partake in coffee and cakes on the waterfront. The wide expanses of the North York Moors are on the doorstep, with many attractions, including fishing on the nearby Scaling Dam, the Danby Moors Tourist and Exhibition Centre and the steam railway at Grosmont. An excellent base for a varied and interesting holiday.
The village of Loftus lies on the east coast of Yorkshire and was a mining village. It has a main street with a variety of shops, restaurants and pubs. Four miles to the north is the Spa town of Saltburn with its long pier.
