The Mission Room is a well-received cottage, praised for its cleanliness, peaceful rural setting, and welcoming host. Guests enjoyed the spacious kitchen, wood burner, and beautiful garden. While some noted the high steps and uneven outdoor areas as challenging for those with mobility issues, the property's tranquility and comfort were highlights. The thoughtful touches, such as a Christmas welcome pack, were appreciated.
Guests consistently noted the property as 'spotlessly clean', indicating high standards of cleanliness throughout the cottage.
The cottage's location in North Wales & Snowdonia, near Malpas, is described as peaceful with lovely countryside views, convenient for local walks and access to Chester.
The majority of guests found the property comfortable, mentioning comfy beds and a cosy wood burner. However, some guests found the lounge and main bed less supportive.
Facilities are generally well-regarded, with a well-equipped kitchen and utility room. Some guests mentioned minor issues with bathroom tiles, heating, and WiFi, as well as suggestions for additional kitchen utensils and coat hooks.
The host's thoughtfulness is evident in gestures like a Christmas welcome pack and prompt assistance. However, as gifts are not guaranteed for every stay, guests should consider this a delightful bonus rather than an expectation.
Malpas 1.6 miles. The Mission Room is a rural retreat steeped in history. Once forming part of the homestead of a Cheshire farmworker’s cottage this converted Shippon and Dairy lies on the outskirts of Malpas village in Cheshire. This ground-floor property is an idyllic escape for busy professionals, as a writer’s or artist’s retreat as well as a perfect hub for walkers and active couples of all ages; why not enjoy a romantic weekend break, or a relaxing last-minute holiday. The seasonal gardens have been designed by Matthew Wilson and remain an ongoing conservation project to attract bees and all manner of wildlife. Ample off-road parking enables guests to arrive with ease and get settled into this stunning abode. Take one step up to the sitting room and spot the original tall, cathedral ceilings, wooden beams and exposed brickwork, where you can curl up on the sofa next to the warm glow of the woodburning stove. Rustic beams and exposed brickwork are featured in the double bedroom, and there’s a skylight for star gazing in the king-size room with a patio door leading out to the garden. Freshen up in the smart bathroom that adds decadence to your stay with marble tiling, sensory lights, double ended bath and walk-in shower to get ready in style. Step outside into your very own fairy-tale sanctuary to wander the gardens, admire the luscious plant life and gather next to the pond for a picnic when the sun is shining. Enjoy the outdoor seating area on the revived crazy paved patio providing the perfect setting to toast your holiday retreat and dine alfresco. Meander down the gravel path beneath the developing laburnum arch to overlook the seasonal wildflower meadow. Rainy days won't stop you from enjoying this splendid garden thanks to the external conservatory with seating in a snug space to relax with a good book and a hot drink. Venture into the local village of Malpas to where ample shops offer the self-catering essentials and there are a range of places serving delicious food and drink including a delicatessen and a traditional inn dating back to the 16th century. Head into the city of Chester to explore the historic walls, coliseum, and the grand cathedral resting in the picture-perfect city centre or take advantage of The Mission Room’s prime location near the Shropshire and North Wales borders or you can even travel further afield to Manchester.
