Fishermen can cast their lines in the River Eden, which meanders through the beautiful open moorland. Carlisle, a larger city with more services and attractions, is only a short drive away. The city's castle dates back to the 12th century. There are three golf courses within a short distance of each other. Other nearby attractions include Walby Farm Park, Hadrian's Wall, and Talkin Tarn, all of which offer excellent hiking trails. The North Pennines aonb and the Lake District National Park are also within a short distance of each other. Corby Hill is an ideal location from which to explore Cumbria's many attractions.

Lovely quiet rural location, perfect for me working in Carlisle. Sophie the host was very attentive and friendly. Parking is great. Very much enjoyed my stay in Ploughman's Cottage and would love to return.

It had everything we needed for our stay and was a perfect base to explore the local area and beyond. The close locality of the shops and pub/restaurants was also very good. The reason for our stay, apart from a short holiday, was our sons graduation was being held at Carlisle Cathedral. The journey into Carlisle was very easy and the shopping area is very good with all the normal high street shops. Plenty of carparking too. We would definitely consider using the cottage again.
