Heading west, Maryport has a shingle beach, a Roman museum and an aquarium by the bustling harbour (4.5 miles). To the east, you can explore the northern fringes of the Lake District, with Bassenthwaite Lake, the Lake District Wildlife Park and The Lakes Distillery all within 10 miles.
