Nestled in the charming market town of Egremont close to the Lake District National Park in Cumbria is the spectacular Grove House. This wonderful, dog-friendly holiday home dates back to the 1880s and benefits from a fabulous location close to the abundance of attractions in the Lake District National Park as well as the Heritage Coast at St Bees. This imposing semi-detached property has a stunning interior, off-road parking and even a hot tub; the perfect setting for large family gatherings or groups of friends looking to explore the wonders of Cumbria. Cross the threshold into your new home-from-home and head straight into the fully-equipped kitchen where you can help prepare delicious meals that the whole family can enjoy in the formal dining room with enough seats for everyone! On sunny evenings you could indulge in an alfresco affair before taking advantage of the house’s amenities which include an external games room with pool table and a hot tub where you can savour a soothing soak and marvel as the stars fill the sky over Cumbria. On colder nights, gather the family in the welcoming sitting room where the crackling woodburing stove greets you and enjoy a well-earned family film night on the Smart TV before washing off the day’s adventures in either the lower-ground-floor bathroom, the bathroom on the first floor or the shower room on the second. When yawning begins, choose from eight beautifully-appointed bedrooms; there is a super-king-size and two double on the lower-ground-floor, two super-king-sizes completing the first and one double and two twins finishing off the second floor. If you can tear yourself away from this idyllic abode venture into the heart of Egremont where you can stock up on all your self-catering goods or enjoy a much-needed break from the kitchen at O’Hallorans or further afield at The Royal Oak in Beckermet. Alternatively venture to the coast at St Bees where you can roam the golden shores with your canine companion while admiring the spectacular views across the sea, if you're lucky you may even spot local wildlife like Herring Gulls or Razorbills. Outdoor enthusiasts can venture into the Lake District National Park to uncover the abundance of walks, trails and summits including High Stile, Dale Head and Scafell Pike. All this and more awaits at Grove House.
West of the Lake District proper, in the Borough of Copeland, you'll find the thriving market town of Egremont. At the base of Dent Fall sits a thriving town whose character hasn't changed much since the early 1300s. At the southern end of the main street, above the river Ehen, are the ruins of the Norman castle. There are a variety of places to worship, buy, eat, and enjoy the arts. Ennerdale Water, located near Cleater, is the most westerly and, arguably, tranquil lake in the National Park. St. Bees is a picturesque fishing community that serves as the starting point for Wainwright's "Coast to Coast" Walk. It is home to a Norman priory, an Elizabethan public school, a nine-hole golf course, and numerous local watering holes. St. Bees Head, named for the nearby town of the same name, is Cumbria's only stretch of Heritage coastline and a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Walking opportunities abound, both along the clifftops and on the beach below. Further up this stunning coast lies Whitehaven, a sophisticated Georgian port that sits between the shimmering sea and the Lakeland Fells. Explore its beautiful green spaces and visit the Beacon Heritage Centre to learn about the region's rich past. Just over 15 miles away lies Wasdale Head, the starting point for the ascent of Scafel Pike, England's highest peak, and 12 miles away is both Muncaster Castle and the Eskdale and Ravenglass miniature railway. An excellent base from which to explore the western Lake District shoreline.
