About this property

A detached chalet looking over to the Isle of Man and Scotland, nestled in the coastal village of Coulderton, Cumbria. Well-equipped for a family escape, The Chalet provides a quaint hideaway for accessing Cumbria, The Lake District and Scotland. After a day of rambling, kick off your walking boots and step into the homely open-plan living space, getting comfortable on the plush sofa as the alluring woodburner heats the space. Cross the threshold into the kitchen, sure to inspire those budding chefs, where a selection of appliances shall assist with home-cooking and the washing machine means you won’t have to bring your whole wardrobe! Enjoy the fruits of your labour at the dining table, taking in the far-reaching views towards the sea. Wash away the day in the bathroom, complete with bath and shower over so you can best decide how to prepare for the day! As you look to unwind, choose between the king-size or single room, each benefitting from ample storage. The highlight of this property rests to the rear garden, boasting an enclosed space with an astro turfed lawn, seating area and covered hot tub. The local area provides superb coastal and fell walking, along with bike trails such as the C2C cycleway. Head into the heart of St Bees, where you'll find a small selection of eateries, including local favourite, The Manor, set in a rustic 17th century inn, serving traditional home-cooked meals and refreshing cask ales. Continue further afield to Whitehaven, home to an exciting array of heritage waiting to be discovered at Whitehaven Castle, dating back to 1769, and The Beacon Museum. For a different type of adventure, hop on board the Ravenglass and Eskdale Steam Railway, journeying along a seven-mile line from Ravenglass to Dalegarth Station near Boot, in the Valley of Eskdale, in the Lake District. The Chalet offers a splendid coastal and countryside break, whatever time of year.

On the western outskirts of the Lake District, in the Borough of Copeland, is the market town of Egremont. The population of this thriving town, which is located at the base of Dent Fall, is remarkably similar to that of the 13th century. With the Norman castle ruins at the southern end, close above the river Ehen, the main street extends out onto the market square. There are a number of churches, a few supermarkets, an arts centre, as well as stores and restaurants. The westernmost lake in the National Park is Ennerdale Water, which is tucked away in Cleater. It is thought to be the most tranquil of all the lakes. It is the least visited of all the lakes and is considerably off the main path, with no public roads lining its National Trust-owned shoreline. St. Bees, a seaside town, is the starting point of Wainwright's well-known "Coast to Coast" Walk. It is home to a Norman priory, an Elizabethan public school, a nine-hole golf course, and a number of traditional pubs. Due to its proximity to a village, St. Bees Head is Cumbria's sole Heritage shoreline and a Site of Special Scientific Interest. There are numerous opportunities for treks along the clifftops and strolls along the sandy beach. Whitehaven, an attractive Georgian port tucked between the sparkling sea and Lakeland Fells, is located farther along this lovely coastline. Learn about the town's rich history at the Beacon Heritage Centre, as well as its lovely parks and gardens. Muncaster Castle, the Eskdale and Ravenglass miniature railway, and Wasdale Head, the beginning of the ascent to the top of Scaffel Pike, the highest mountain in England, are all 12 miles away. a great starting point for exploring the Lake District's western coast.

It was nice to arrive to a welcome gift. The fire was made up and plenty of wood to use.. thank you. The microwave plate didn't turn so couldn't use it, and the toilet was a little wobbly! That said the hot tub was great and the views were amazing. We nearly didn't chose this stay due to other reviews regarding the road. It would be good to see if all the occupants could club together to maintain the access road. It is a tight bend with lots of pot holes, but it's not impossible to navigate. If people are wanting a peaceful, comfortable stay right on the cobbled beach, then this is the place. We loved sitting in the front room, simply watching the sea crashing and relaxing in the warmth. Wonderful.
