Close by is the majestic Sizergh Castle, with its fantastic interior, small lake and beautiful gardens, set in rolling parkland and well worth a visit, as is the nearby Levens Hall, known for its world-class topiary. Kendal is a short drive away, and is often hosting festivals such as Lakes Alive, as well as a weekly market with artisan food stalls. This town is also surrounded by hills, so why not climb to Kendal Castle’s ruins and take in the views of the Lakeland Fells? The fabulous and quintessential Lake District town of Windermere is half an hour away, where you can explore the bustling centre with its many cafes and pubs, or enjoy a boat trip to Newby Bridge or Ambleside.
