Sedbergh (pronounced Sed-Ber) is an ancient market town in northern Dentdale, situated at the foot of the magnificent and wild Howgill Fells. Sedbergh is only 12 miles from the Lake District National Park and is located just inside the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The town has an olde worlde feel to it, with narrow streets, small stores, traditional bars, a notable school dating back to 1525, and a 12th century church. Dentdale, running 14 miles from the windswept moors below Whernside to the junction of the Rivers Dee and Rawthey, is the jewel of the Yorkshire Dales, with its rolling hills and dry-stone walls. Dent, with its cobblestone streets, has been a part of the valley since Norman times, and the nearby Dent railway station is on the historic Settle-Carlisle railway route.

It is only a very short walk into the center of Sedburgh. Sadly due to unforeseen circumstances we were only able to spend two nights out of the seven we booked there.

Comfortable cottage in Sedbergh, would book again in the future, could just do with a shower caddy or soap dish in the cubicle but well satisfied
