Bluebell Cottage in Cumbria & The Lake District offers a cosy, comfortable stay with stunning views and a popular hot tub. Guests appreciate the high-quality furnishings, comfortable beds, and the property's location as a base for exploring The Lakes. While some guests encountered maintenance issues, the cottage's charm and amenities like a wood burner and well-equipped kitchen are frequently praised.
Reviews on cleanliness are mixed, with some guests finding the cottage very clean, while others reported issues with cleaning standards, such as dirty towels and stained bed sheets. The inconsistency suggests room for improvement.
The location is generally praised for its stunning views and proximity to The Lakes, though some guests found the property further from the beach and local amenities than expected. The peaceful surroundings are a highlight for many.
Guests frequently mention the comfortable beds and cosy atmosphere of the cottage. However, some noted thin walls and issues with privacy due to an interconnecting door, slightly affecting the overall comfort score.
Facilities like the hot tub and wood burner are well-received, but several guests reported maintenance issues with the hot tub, oven, and heating. Some also suggested the addition of items like bath mats and shelves.

Situated on the coast, across from Morecambe Bay is the small village of Aldingham. Local folklore says that the village was once a mile long and that many of the cottages were washed away. Aldingham also has a reputation as a smuggler's village, the perpetrators hiding brandy from France and tobacco from America within the church crypt. The village itself is close to Furness Abbey as well as the ancient market town of Ulverston, just five miles away. Ulverston boasts a street market every Thursday and Saturday, in addition to many festivals throughout the year. These include an amazing lantern procession in November and an atmospheric Dickensian weekend in early December. The town is also the birthplace of Stan Laurel, famous for his work with Oliver Hardy, and as such is home to the only museum dedicated to this double act in the world. With all the attractions of the Lake District National Park and the sandy beaches of the Furness Coast, this quiet and peaceful area has plenty to offer!
