About this property

Springfield Cottage is a delightful stone-built cottage is one in a row of three cottages, situated right in the heart of the village of Chipping, with a beautiful, private rear garden and patio. Ideally situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty this property is ideal for couples or families looking to explore this scenic area of Lancashire. The cottage is well-equipped and has a modern kitchen complete with a breakfast table for two. There is a separate dining room where everyone can gather together over a family meal and chat over the day's events, and the sofa bed in this room adds extra flexibility for an additional occasional guest. Enjoy the open fire and its welcoming atmosphere in the comfortable sitting room or step outside to enjoy a refreshing drink on the sunny patio. Upstairs there are three pleasant bedrooms and a modern family bathroom. Situated in the historic village of Chipping in the scenic Ribble Valley, you are only a few steps from the village pubs. Whilst you are in the Sun Inn discover the story of colourful Lizzie Dean at this haunted pub and enjoy the hospitality at the Tillotsons, and if you do happen to count, there are definitely more steps on the way home! Chipping is ideally placed as it has easy access to the dramatic beauty of the Lake District, the historic town of Lancaster, the bright lights of Blackpool and the seaside charm at Lytham and Morecambe. Being on the edge of the ancient Forest of Bowland, Chipping boasts many beautiful local walks. A trip up Parlick Hill and maybe watching the hand gliders catching the thermals is fun; galloping home down the hill, at speed, is even better! The valley of the Trough of Bowland is close by, a stunning Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with dramatic scenery and an amazing spot for a walk, a cycle or a picnic. A visit to the Inn at Whitewell is always a treat, and you might be able to do some celebrity spotting whilst you are there. For the cycling enthusiast there is an opportunity to don your lycra (or not) and discover some hidden gems with a variety of circuitous routes, taking in moors, hills, coasts and cafés on the way. Just outside Chipping, The Wild Boar Park (please check their website in advance) is a popular spot for children as it offers a play area, hand feeding the animals, tractor rides, as well as wild boars, so hand feed the lambs in spring and enjoy making dens in the bales of hay! A little further afield is the market town of Clitheroe where a trip to the castle and museum on the hill is an interesting day out. An ideally located property with plenty of things to do for everyone.

Situated in the heart of the Ribble Valley, the pretty village of Chipping provides home to a lovely church, a haunted Inn and reportedly one of the longest continually used shops in England, currently taking the form of a village shop and post office. Well equipped, very comfortable beds. Garden is beautiful and it is sunny to sit outside in the evening. Parking in the village is available, however it would be more convenient to park outside the designated garage. We unloaded the car on the road outside the cottage which is busy at school times. We would happily stay here again, Chipping is a very attractive village with some many old stone buildings.

We found the heating a little unreliable but the open fire was very nice. The Sun pub was very welcoming with good food and the farm shop very handy for local produce. Chipping is well placed for exploring the Forest of Bowland area ,a very beautiful place to be. Altogether a wonderful holiday.

Overall the cleanliness on arrival was of a good standard, although the cooker and toaster could have been cleaner. Parking is tight, but this is explained before arrival, and we had no problem. We appreciated the advance email from the owner containing useful information about the area.
