The owner's thoughtfulness is frequently mentioned, with guests appreciating the welcoming touches like homemade cakes and other extras. While these gestures are highly valued, it is noted that such personal touches, though common, cannot be guaranteed for every stay.
This is a clever conversion of the old village shop, a garage and a barn into one beautifully designed spacious detached cottage, right in the centre of the pretty village of Parwich. When first entering the cottage, the exposed brickwork gives a real sense of history, yet the contemporary furnishings bring it right up to date. All the bedrooms are tastefully decorated with a light and airy feel, and have lovely views over this attractive village. The main bathroom is the perfect place for a luxurious soak in its beautiful bath, and the second sitting room tucked on the first floor, with its comfy sofas and woodburning stove, makes a wonderful place to sit back and relax with your friends, or perhaps escape them for a while! The beautifully-designed open plan kitchen is fully equipped, with an island breakfast bar, a large dining table and a spacious and comfortable seating area, so the whole space is a lovely social spot to get together. French doors lead from here out to the sheltered courtyard with patio furniture, ideal for a barbecue, and from here you can access the games room with a full size pool table and table football. Bikes can also be stored safely here. Should one of your group have limited mobility, its good to know theres a ground floor twin room, and a ground floor wet room which has wide access. The downstairs bedroom room also features French doors opening out to the courtyard. Parwich is an award-winning village, with its beautiful stone buildings and neat gardens set around an old pond and spacious village green, plus a quaint local pub. Theres lots of attractions nearby: if its walking or cycling you enjoy, then there are many trails, including the High Peak Trail and Tissington Trail which follow the routes of former railway lines. The Roystone Grange Archaeology Trail is north of the village and is perfect for keen history seekers. Chatsworth House and Alton Towers are a short drive away and within easy reach are the beautiful Derbyshire Dales, making this property an ideal getaway all year round.
Surrounded by lush green countryside, Parwich is a charming village which dates back to Saxon times. It has a picturesque old church, village green, a country pub and a village hall. The area is a delight for cyclists and walkers, with the nearby Manifold Trail, a tarmac path that follows the old Leek to Manifold light railway, providing the perfect opportunity to explore the countryside. The route has been open since the 1930s, when the railway closed, and was probably the first disused railway to be utilised in this way. Nearby are the lovely villages of Alstonefield, Ilam and Brassington, and activities such as golf, horse riding and sailing are all within a seven mile radius. Chatsworth House and Carsington Waters are also close by, making Parwich a great base for a family holiday.

There is a downstairs bedroom and bathroom with wet-room shower, However please be aware that the bathroom is accessed via three steps up (with handrail) from the lounge to the rear lobby, there are no handrails adjacent to the shower, but the toilet seat has integral drop-down armrests, and a wheeled shower chair can be provided with sufficient notice, to access the bedroom from the rear lobby there is one further step down, the lounge with the TV is upstairs.
With notice we can also provide a TV downstairs for our guests with mobility difficulties who find it hard to access the upstairs lounge. Please note that this property cannot accept any pets for 2024, but from 2/1/25 this property will accept up to two well behaved medium sized dogs.

When we had a little problem with the lights in the downstairs bedroom, she sorted it within 10 minutes. Now thatâs good service The downstairs lounge had plenty of room for us all and the upstairs lounge was super cosy with the wood burner lit (fuel was provided ) The kitchen has everything you could possibly need. The outside area is small, but enough for us The local pub is very friendly and does superb meals Altogether a most enjoyable experience
Karen
Well equipped, tasteful, comfortable furniture including the beds and very clean. We had a 60th birthday celebration weekend including a delicious meal ( need to book, very popular) at the homely and very pretty Sycamore Inn in the village, also thoroughly recommend afternoon tea at Wildhive Callow Hall. 10/10.

This was our second stay in the property and we hope to stay again in the future to continue our exploration of the area.
