Ground Floor - The front door of Beaters Bottom brings you into a ’snug’ with a sofa bed, leather armchair, a settle, and an antique chest. Perfect for an hour’s reading! Also on the ground floor is the double bedroom and modern well fitted bathroom with large walk-in shower.

Upstairs - As you head up the staircase with glass balustrade, you will find a spectacular open plan living space, open to the roof with a beautiful old roof truss at its centre. For your use, especially on chilly nights, is an extremely stylish cylindrical wood burning stove, made by the renowned Danish company Rais. A bundle of wood for the fire will be provided for your stay with more to order if you wish. The kitchen is of a high standard and well equipped with hardwood doors and quartz worktops, coffee maker and dishwasher.

Outside

There is free parking for two cars and a private outdoor seating area which also overlooks the meadow. This lovely spot catches the warmth of late afternoon and early evening sun. There is a fire pit for your use. The area is exceptionally scenic, you are within the Peak District National Park. This area is perfect for walking, cycling, climbing, running or simply spending your days sightseeing and relaxing.

The nearby towns and places of interest include, Bakewell, Matlock, Chatsworth House and grounds, Haddon Hall and many more. Gratton Dale is a small and remote hamlet set in glorious dales scenery. Some of the buildings are surprisingly grand for such a remote spot. For example, The Old Cheese Factory being built of local stone from the old quarries on nearby Anthony Hill. Nearby, at Smerrill Farm, the Grange has the last remains of a medieval village. Gratton Grange has a beautiful old cart shed with carved stone pillars visible from the lane nearby. The nearby village of Middleton by Youlgreave has an old square and a very pretty village green with a World War 2 memorial. Its slightly larger neighbour, Youlgreave, is a lovely village offering a pub and some local shops and was once the centre of Derbyshire’s lead mining industry.
