Nestled amongst the fine rolling hills on the edge of Bakewell, Derbyshire, is this splendid two-bedroom cottage, Brendan. Perfectly suited for families, this quaint escape provides a great position for exploring the Peak District National Park, along with many charming towns and villages in the region. As you arrive, park up in the off-road parking space and unload your baggage into your new home from home. The apartment is accessed on the first floor via an internal staircase. After a long day of rambling, look forward to unwinding in the living/dining room, complete with two leather sofas and a large TV, ideal for a cosy night in. Move into the kitchen where the designated chef can get to work on preparing a home-cooked dish, while the rest of the group set the dining table and pour the drinks. Whisk yourself away to the bedrooms to catch some rest, including a king-size and twin, both neutrally presented and hosting ample storage space for personal belongings. Serving the bedrooms is a bathroom with bath and shower over so you can best decide how to prepare for the day. Take advantage of the shared utility/games room and challenge each other to a game of table tennis. Brendan promises a relaxing retreat surrounded by the scenery of the Peak District. Note: This property can be booked with Refs. 1107891, 1107893, 1107894, 1107895, and 1107897, together sleeping up to 23 guests.
A charming little market town that retains a lovely rural atmosphere and offers a wide variety of shops, restaurants, and pubs, as well as farmers' markets. Downtown, there is a historic 17th-century market hall and a contemporary recreation complex with an indoor swimming pool.
In the Peak District National Park, Bakewell is an excellent starting point for exploring the area. Alton Towers, Britain's most popular theme park, is only a short drive away from the rugged Dark Peak and the softer limestone White Peak. To name just a few, a trip to the nearby Castleton caverns or Little John's burial site in Hathersage is a must, as are many of the stately homes, such as Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, and Hardwick Hall. Visit the Edwardian Opera House in Buxton, which was designed by Frank Matcham, the same architect who worked on the London Palladium.

I would not describe the property as a cottage, more as an apartment. The kitchen is very small and a long way from the table, along a corridor and through the sitting room. Itâs fine for breakfasts and snacks but wouldnât want to be cooking meals in it as per the description. Couldnât find any instructions for the heating and it was a bit chilly at times. The local information was all located in the games room rather than the individual properties but only found that by chance. Would be good to have some books/board games for long Winter nights. During our stay I couldnât get a Wi-Fi connection, although the tv did work. We were visiting family in the area so it was fine for us as a base but I would have reservations about recommending it for a family holiday other than in high Summer.
