The Belle is a well-situated cottage in Bakewell, offering a comfortable stay with some areas for improvement. Guests appreciate its proximity to the town centre and the convenience of off-street parking. While the property's decor is on trend, some maintenance issues have been noted.
The property's cleanliness is generally acceptable, with some guests finding it satisfactory. However, there are mentions of areas needing attention, such as the presence of ants and a need for better mould management in the bathroom.
The location is highly praised for its proximity to the town centre and local attractions, making it an excellent base for exploring Bakewell and the surrounding Peak District.
Guests find the beds comfortable and the cottage cosy, although there are comments about the need for better mattresses and the inconvenience of a single bathroom for some.
Facilities have room for improvement, with several guests reporting issues with heating, lighting, and a lack of instruction manuals for appliances. Maintenance concerns, such as missing light bulbs and a hole in the bathroom ceiling, have been consistently mentioned.
There is insufficient information regarding thoughtful touches such as welcome gifts. While there is a suggestion for including a local delicacy in the welcome pack, it is not clear if this is a regular practice.

Itâs fair to say after reading some recent reviews we were a bit concerned what we would find, however we found The Belle well appointed and had everything we needed, including good heating, which was very welcome as we had the first snow of the year whilst staying. Yes, itâs an old house and there will always be odd bits of maintenance here and there (we live in a very old house ourselves, so know what it can be like), however the house was clean and well presented. It was easy to find, just follow the instructions given in the welcome email. The only addition would be instructions for the tv, we just about worked out how to access the normal tv channels! Apart from that a great stay and to be fair did not spoil our stay. Thanks, we will be back!

Simple and inexpensive issues : Check bulbs are working Welcome pack - could this not include a Bakewell Tart ? Or milk in the fridge ? You expect the property to be how you left but no cleaning equipment or cleaning products ? Mattress needs replacing both rooms . My 3rd visit but sadly disappointed

The windows were so dirty you couldnât see out of some of them. There was paint hanging or walls, the sink in the main bathroom was blocked, not really what I expected and it was disappointing. Having said that, property is in an excellent location which is the only things it had going for it.
