Thrift Cottage is consistently praised for its cosy charm, ideal location in the Peak District, and cleanliness. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and the wood burning stove, adding to the cottage's appeal. The proximity to good pubs and scenic walks enhances the stay. While some minor issues are noted, the overall sentiment is highly positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.
The cottage receives high marks for cleanliness, with several reviews mentioning the high standard maintained. One review noted an absence of cobwebs, and another praised the cleanliness upon arrival. However, a couple of reviews suggested room for improvement, particularly in the bathroom.
The location is highly regarded, with guests loving the proximity to walking trails and the Peak District's attractions. The local pub's accessibility is frequently mentioned, although the lack of village amenities like a shop is noted. The scenic views and ease of access to various sites contribute to the high score.
Comfort is well-received with multiple mentions of comfy beds and a cosy atmosphere, especially with the log fire. Some guests, however, found the single beds uncomfortable and suggested that an additional upstairs loo and a bath for kids would improve comfort.
Facilities are generally appreciated, especially the well-equipped kitchen and the wood burning stove. However, there are comments about difficulties with the fire and a desire for a bath and an additional toilet. The lack of a garden and some maintenance issues, like the need for a bathroom refit, slightly lower the score.
Guests have mentioned receiving a welcome pack, which indicates thoughtfulness on the part of the host. However, as these gifts are not guaranteed for every stay, they should be considered a delightful bonus rather than an expectation.

Mr Thomas
This is a fantastic little cottage that is finished to an extremely high standard. It is very cosy, comfortable and well-equipped and felt very homely. It's in a very good location too. Castleton was only about 20 mins drive away & Eyam & Chatsworth are close by too. The pub across the road is friendly & does very nice food. We would happily make a return stay.
Mr Russell
