An exceptionally well equipped clean and comfortable cottage, in an idyllic location in the Heart of the Peak District National Park. Candlelight Cottage overlooks the village green of the delightful village of Litton, ideal for a family looking to explore wonderful Derbyshire. Be welcomed into this quaint cottage, with historic features throughout, an enclosed courtyard, and plenty of space to make yourself at home. With ample amenities, a gas AGA and a lovely cottage feel, the kitchen/diner caters to your culinary needs, and allows guests to enjoy a hearty meal at the dining table. Afterwards, retire to the characterful sitting room threaded with wooden beams, and warm your feet beside the gas fire as you catch up on your favourite TV shows. When sleep calls, ascend the stairs and freshen up in the contemporary bathroom, choosing between a warm shower and a soak in the tub, before cosying up into one of the two beautifully presented bedrooms, with options including a double with countryside views and a twin overlooking the village green. When the sun is shining, make the most of the delightful rear courtyard, an enclosed space with colourful shrubs and furniture ideal for alfresco dining over a glass of fizz as guests reflect on the day’s adventures. Litton is a delightful village settled into the centre of the Peak District, offering a lovely pub, The Red Lion, and a Post Office for your holiday essentials. For more amenities, head over to Tideswell, or try out some of the local countryside walks. Visit Buxton, where there are more eateries, as well as Pool’s Caverns, spend a day browsing the independent stores of Bakewell and enjoying tea and cake in a local café, or visit one of the many walks and interesting sites throughout the incredible Peak District, with options including Speedwell Cavern, Peveril Castle, Jacob’s Ladder, The Roaches, Kinder Scout, Grindslow Knoll and Chee Dale Stepping Stones. Litton is a picturesque village of traditional historic stone-built dwellings and a characterful public house. This idyllic village makes the perfect place from which to explore the wonderful scenery and pretty villages of this magnificent Dale. The river Skirfare flows through Littondale, and is fed from the slopes of one of the Dales 3 Peaks, Pen-y-Ghent. The beauty of the classic limestone countryside, with silvery dry-stone walls and field barns, which are part of an ancient agricultural landscape is unique. Through flower-rich hay meadows you can access the river on stepping stones or by crossing the river by footbridge when the water is in spate and enjoy the riverside walk to Arncliffe where you can refresh yourself upon arrival at the Falcon Inn, where food is also available. Local becks and streams that contain very rarely visited, but immensely beautiful waterfalls and limestone gorges, with pools for wild swimming, are on your doorstep, with a plethora of quite rare flora and fauna and valley side woodland walks. Undoubtedly, this is one of the best walking and mountain biking areas in the Dales and can be enjoyed from your doorstep, also with quiet roads for road cycling within the heart of the National Park. Malham Tarn, Buckden, Hubberholme and Kettlewell are all within walking distance from the cottage on quiet, but well-defined footpaths.     Wonderful second visit to this lovely cottage such lovely welcome email from Pam everything you could possibly need super cosy and clean just the best setting for shop pub lovely short walk over to tideswell to even more lovely pubs and shops if you want to experience very old pub three stags is great pork pie and pickled onion after a long trek was smashing can't wait to return to Litton thankyou
