Swallows Barn in the Peak District offers a peaceful, rural retreat with a cosy atmosphere. Guests appreciate the cleanliness, the scenic location ideal for walking, and the well-equipped facilities. The absence of Wi-Fi is noted as a positive by some, allowing a break from technology. The working farm setting with friendly cows adds charm, although some mention minor issues with comfort and maintenance.
The cottage receives high praise for its cleanliness, with multiple reviews mentioning it being 'spotless' and 'very clean'. Only a few comments suggest room for improvement, such as deep cleaning for carpets.
The location is highly valued for its beauty and proximity to walking trails and local towns. The rural setting on a working farm is appreciated, although the remoteness leads to limited phone signal.
Comfort is generally well-regarded, with the property described as cosy and warm. However, some guests mention issues with the softness of the sofa and the bed's mattress, suggesting room for improvement.
While the property is praised for being well-equipped, especially the kitchen, there are mixed feelings about the lack of Wi-Fi and phone signal. Some maintenance issues are raised, but not enough to provide a comprehensive score.
The owner's thoughtfulness is noted, with mentions of a warm welcome and gifts such as milk and biscuits. However, as these gifts are not consistently referenced, they should not be expected by future guests.

Its location is quite remote which leads to some restrictions to phone and television usage - welcome positives for some - and nearby roads are narrow. It is in walking/cycling country and in easy driving distance of the Peak Districts's towns and attractions. We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Swallows Barn.

The cottage is beautifully furnished and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. It was spotless and well equipped. The area is gorgeous and there are many walks you can do from the cottage. Red Lion in Litton is a lovely pub with great food, as is the Anglers Rest in Millers Dale.

Next to a working farm, great to see sheep and cattle from the kitchen window. Quality mattress and bedding although felt as if lying on a hill - the metal support underneath? A good break from the Internet and no phone signal. When staying another time, would take games, books and dvds as there are none at the property. Oh, and extra towels!
