Guests say

The Bike Shed is a well-received holiday cottage, praised for its spaciousness, well-equipped kitchen, and friendly staff. It serves as a comfortable base for exploring, with direct walking access to many places. The rustic decor and long dining table are highlights, contributing to a cosy atmosphere for family and group gatherings. While some minor maintenance issues are noted, the overall experience is positive, with many guests planning return visits.

Most guests found The Bike Shed to be clean and comfortable. However, one review mentioned the presence of cobwebs and suggested that the property could benefit from more thorough dusting, especially at higher levels.

The property is well-located, with guests appreciating the ability to walk directly from The Bike Shed to various destinations. The views from the balconies are also noted as beautiful, although one review mentioned some noise from nearby workshops.

Guests generally found The Bike Shed comfortable, with a special mention of the lounge area and the adequacy of showers after a long day. However, some guests noted that the seating and mattresses could be improved for enhanced comfort.

The property is praised for its well-equipped kitchen, especially for large groups. Nonetheless, there are comments about the need for a larger TV, better Wi-Fi, and updates to some kitchenware. Concerns about the adequacy of fridge/freezer space and the safety of bathroom locks were also raised.

While the reviews reflect positively on the staff's helpfulness and the property's provision of amenities, there is no mention of gifts or special touches that would fall under the category of thoughtfulness. Therefore, a score cannot be provided.

The Derbyshire Peak District includes the little town of New Mills, which is located on the boundary between North West Derbyshire and Cheshire. Since the 13th century, the Torrs Riverside Park (also known as "the park under the town") has served as a location for recreation and relaxation. In the late 20th century, the New Mills Heritage Centre was established to promote tourism in the region. While Chapel en le Frith, the Capital of the Peaks, with its cobblestone market and historic old stocks, is only 5 miles away, the Torrs Millennium Walkway, a beloved bridge situated deep in the canyon, draws a lot of visitors. The lovely spa town of Buxton, which is easily accessible by car, is well known for its healing spring water as well as for its Pavillion Gardens and magnificent Victorian Opera House, which hosts a variety of shows and draws visitors from all over the world. The Blue John display caves at Castleton and other grand homes, including Chatsworth House and Lyme Hall, are also easily accessible by car. Since there are direct rail connections to Manchester, the Hope Valley, and Sheffield, you could even leave your car at home. a great launching point for Peak District exploration.

The marina is sited next to alot of garages, with a workshop right next door which was a little noisy at times. The bike shed was clean but there was old dusty cobwebs in every room above head height some even in the door ways. Every chair and sofa had seen better days apart from the two bar stools and the chair in the nook. All the dining chairs had no cushioning left in the seat, you basically sat on the frame with what was left of the leather covering. Noone used them they were too uncomfortable. The black sofa had rips behind the back cushions, and you sat so far back on the other sofa that it obviously was supposed to have a loose cushioned back, but only had two tiny scatter cushions. We had to use pillows to get comfortable. The beds were very firm with dips and rises in the mattresses, definitely need replacing. Only the main bathroom had a proper bathroom lock that you can unlock from outside all the enquires had a bolt, which resulted in someone being locked in as they couldn't unbolt it. It is very dangerous for the younger children. The ground floor ensuite was only lit by one down light which left it feeling dark, dingy and dirty. And their room door was not a fire door or substantial as it had wooden slats that you could see through the gaps in between, not very private for a bedroom. For 10 people sharing the kitchen did have two oven but the fridge and freezer where far too small. It was a good base but a bit rough around the edges. Would benefit from a bit of tlc.
