Guests say

The Hayloft is a spacious and well-situated cottage in the Peak District, offering stunning views and a peaceful setting. Guests appreciate the comfortable beds, friendly owner, and the property's suitability for pets. While some guests mention issues with cleanliness and maintenance, the majority reflect on a positive experience, enjoying the local walks and the cottage's character.

Cleanliness has received mixed feedback. While some guests found the property spotlessly clean, others reported issues with dust, dirt, and maintenance of cleaning equipment. The presence of dog waste in the garden was also noted. However, there were also positive comments about the cleanliness in some areas.

The location is highly praised for its beautiful views, proximity to walking trails, and peacefulness. It is well-regarded for being well-situated for exploring the Peak District, with easy access to local amenities and attractions.

Comfort is consistently highlighted, with guests finding the beds very comfortable and the accommodation spacious. The cosy atmosphere and the presence of a wood-burning fire add to the comfort, although some guests mentioned the property could be chilly at times.

Facilities are generally good, with a well-equipped kitchen and modern bathrooms. However, some guests reported issues with heating regulation, insufficient hot water for baths, and maintenance concerns like non-functioning dishwashers and inadequate lighting.

There is insufficient information to score thoughtfulness accurately. While there are mentions of a friendly and helpful owner, and one mention of a gift of eggs, there is not enough consistent detail about additional thoughtful touches or gifts to provide a score.

Beautiful views and walks from the front door. A great base for exploring this part of the Peak District. Mark was very welcoming and helpful. We all had peaceful sleep in comfy beds and our dog settled well. 2 en-suites were a bonus and boot room was handy for muddy gear! I would definitely stay here again with my family.

Property could be lovely. Sadly maintenance of equipment was poor. Very dusty. Backs of doors filthy. Lack of towels. No washing up liquid. No dish cloth. We were given one when asked but had been used. Dishwasher stopped working. Furniture really nice. Beds lovely and comfortable. Loved the position and outlook. Lovely area. Mark very helpful. Such a shame.

The property was very clean and we had everything we needed. The beds were very comfortable and the showers were good. The only negatives we would say was that it was very cold in the main living room and so we had to go and purchase logs and supplies to make it bearable for us to sit in there. One radiator in the living room and one in the kitchen isn't enough. It would be good to perhaps supply throws for people to use, rugs for the floors and perhaps a portable heater or ceiling unit that offers heating. In the summer period absolutely no problem but when the evening temperature dips to 3' and under then it just isn't enough and the owner did say that there was no insulation. The heating was also not set right - we came back at 6pm one night and the heating hadn't come on. I would also mention how steep the outside drive was in the property description - I have just had a knee replacement and was paranoid that I would fall and damage it. A rail alongside the steps would be a good addition - I imagine it is very slippy once the frost arrives. We would definitely book again but would choose the summer rather than the cold period as the above would greatly affect our stay.
