About this property

The Orchards' views are so beautiful that you will be mentally moving in before the end of the stay. This lovely holiday cottage is near the village of Ilam in the Peak District National Park, surrounded by fields and woodland on the owner's farm. Your nearest neighbours are sheep and lambs and no passing traffic to interrupt your peace and privacy. The opportunities for walking and cycling are plentiful, and The Orchards is within easy reach of favourite attractions like Chatsworth House and Alton Towers. It sleeps six people in three bedrooms and is ideal for families or couples.

The Orchards is a comfortable and welcoming holiday cottage on a family-run farm close to the village of Ilam in the Peak District National Park. It's near to some of the sights and attractions that make this a favourite year-round holiday destination. Being slightly off the beaten track means that you can enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the spectacular setting. It is far from isolated, being only 15 minutes from Ashbourne and even closer to Dovedale.  And Alton Towers is just 8 miles away!

Ilam is on the border between Derbyshire and Staffordshire. The landscape is perfect for walking and cycling, and there is a vast network of footpaths and cycling routes to enjoy. The village sits on the River Manifold banks, and local beauty spots include Bunster Hill, Thor's Cave, and Thorpe Cloud. You can walk from the cottage to the grounds of Ilam Park, a beautiful estate managed by the National Trust with gorgeous gardens and woodland trails. The Dovedale Stepping Stones cross the River Dove around 2.5 miles from The Orchards.  Cyclists can use the Tissington Trail, High Peak Trail and Manifold Trail. There is also a loop around Carsington Water, and the traffic-free Monsal Trail is easily accessible from Bakewell and Buxton, both around half an hour's drive from the cottage.

Places to visit during your stay include Chatsworth House, Alton Towers, Haddon Hall, Peak Wildlife Park, Trentham Gardens and Monkey Forest, and the National Memorial Arboretum. Browse the popular Monday market in Bakewell, stroll through Buxton's beautiful Pavilion Gardens, or visit the Staffordshire Potteries. Visitors can play golf or go fishing, horseriding or caving. There's no limit to the fun you can have when you stay at The Orchards, no matter what time of the year you visit.
