The Old Forge in Rye is a spacious and well-appointed cottage praised for its central location and cleanliness. Guests appreciate the proximity to local attractions and the thoughtful touches like milk and cake. Despite some concerns over road noise and maintenance issues, the property's charm and convenience make it a popular choice for families and history enthusiasts.
The property generally receives positive remarks for cleanliness, with several guests noting it as spotless and well-presented. However, there are instances of overlooked areas and items needing attention, such as dusty floors and cobwebs, which slightly lower the score.
The central location is highly valued for its convenience to Rye's amenities, though the proximity to a busy road and associated noise is a recurring concern, affecting the tranquillity for some guests.
Guests find the property spacious and the beds clean, but there are comments about the beds being hard and the front bedroom being affected by traffic noise. The living spaces are generally considered comfortable.
The property is well-equipped, but several reviews mention maintenance issues such as non-working lights, a blocked shower, and a need for repainting. The kitchen is noted to lack some utensils and require cleaner appliances.
Guests often mention and appreciate the thoughtful gestures like cake and milk upon arrival, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere. It is noted that such gifts, while appreciated, are not guaranteed for every stay.
