Guests say

Lantern Cottage is praised for its excellent location in the heart of Rye, offering a cosy atmosphere and pet-friendly accommodation. Guests appreciate the quiet setting and proximity to local attractions. The property boasts comfortable beds and luxurious bedding, with some guests finding the seating low but manageable.

The cottage received mixed feedback on cleanliness. Some guests reported issues with unemptied bins and a grubby sofa, while others made no negative comments, suggesting an overall satisfactory level of cleanliness.

The location is highly praised for being central, quiet, and convenient for exploring Rye, with easy access to restaurants and attractions. Parking challenges are noted, but the prime location compensates for this.

Guests find the beds comfortable but report the seating as low and lacking support. The steep stairs are a concern for some, indicating that comfort may be compromised for those with mobility issues.

Facilities are adequate with some maintenance issues noted, such as unreliable Wi-Fi, damaged kitchenware, and minor leaks. Guests suggest that attention to these details would enhance the overall experience.

There is insufficient information to assess thoughtfulness as there are no consistent mentions of gifts or welcome packs. While some guests noted the lack of such amenities, it is not clear if this is a standard offering.

As previous reviewers said: the seating is very low and the stairs very steep, but there is everything you could need, including coffee, tea, cooking oil, eco-friendly loo paper... Very comfortable beds and luxurious bedding, with superb views from the bedrooms. Took me a while to work out how to use the hob and some information about recycling would have been useful. A great place to stay and only a short walk from the railway station and buses.

Comfortably furnished and appointed throughout but attention to a few minor repairs and maintenance would create a better impression. The steps up to the front door could benefit from a handrail, and the internal stairs are the steepest we've encountered anywhere and could cause a problem for the infirm or elderly. Overall, good accommodation for exploring Rye and district.

Quiet, but right in the middle of town. The cottage is light and roomy, and ceilings and doorways are high enough not the hit your head when you are tall. Bed and bathroom were very comfortable, the seating in the livingroom is very low and soft though, so I decided to pile up the cushions to make it more comfortable. But that would not keep me from booking again.
