Brimming over with character, this beautifully restored 13th-century roadside cottage in the pretty village of Eastry is an absolute delight. Full of original features, it sleeps five people across two bedrooms and welcomes four canine companions. Respectfully styled throughout to make the very most of its original features, it’s the perfect retreat for small families or groups of friends who appreciate unique and quirky holiday homes that have bags of character.
Step inside this unique cottage and you’ll find yourself in a welcoming hallway/breakfast area. This is the perfect place to start your day, so enjoy a casual breakfast before you head out to explore the Kent countryside. Later in the day, make your way along the hallway to the kitchen, where you’ll find everything you need to whip up a fabulous feast for your loved ones. Dine together in the dining area in the open-plan living room/diner, or step outside and dine alfresco on the patio area of the enclosed garden. After dinner, sink into a sofa by the wood burner in the original inglenook fireplace and catch up on your favourite TV shows. When the day is done, head up to the first floor where you will find two beautiful bedrooms. There is also a large open area with a day bed that can be used if you have an additional guest.
Take a stroll at Richborough Roman Fort and Amphitheatre (5 miles). Explore the huge stone walls, rolling defensive ditches and impressive foundations that reveal the scale of this once-bustling Roman settlement. Alternatively, head into the cathedral city of Canterbury (12 miles) to explore its medieval alleyways, riverside gardens and ancient city walls.
