A short car journey takes you to the Elizabethan quay at Boscastle, surrounded by steep cliffs this unspoilt harbour village has lovely tea rooms, pretty stone cottages and a witchcraft museum. Much of the land nearby is owned by the National Trust making for some excellent walks. Why not take a trip to the grand Georgian house of Pencarrow House & Garden, home to a notable art and antiques collection as well as beautiful formal gardens. For spectacular views of the countryside you can hire bikes and cycle or walk the Camel Trail. Spend a day on the coast at Polzeath Beach, a popular spot for surfers and families with plenty of shoreline to spread out on, taking a stroll along the South West Coast Path to Pentire Point. Not far from Port Isaac, St Kew is a small village – the first recorded in Cornwall! - on the north Cornish coast. The village church dates from the fifteenth century and is home to some remarkable stained glass windows. Also in St Kew is a traditional village pub and a golf course, and there is a donkey sanctuary at St Kew Highway. The St Kew Inn also dates from the fifteenth century, and boasts a lovely open fire in winter and a pretty beer garden for sunshine drinks in the summer. There are some lovely walks in the countryside surrounding St Kew, including a circular route through the river valleys.
