Guests say

Compass Point in Cornwall receives high praise for its spotless condition, comfortable furnishings, and convenient location. Guests appreciate the warm welcome from hosts Ian and Claire, the well-maintained garden, and the thoughtful touches like a welcome basket. The property is described as quiet, cosy, and well-equipped, making it an ideal base for exploring the region.

Reviewers unanimously commend the property for its spotless and immaculate condition, indicating a very high standard of cleanliness.

The property is praised for its quiet setting and convenient access to local amenities and attractions, with only a lack of direct mention of proximity to specific landmarks preventing a perfect score.

Guests find the property comfortable and cosy, with well-appointed rooms and comfortable beds. A minor suggestion for additional outdoor seating slightly impacts the score.

The property is described as well-equipped and tastefully furnished, with a beautiful garden. The mention of a small bistro set rather than a larger outdoor dining option suggests a slight room for improvement.

The hosts' thoughtfulness is highlighted by the provision of a welcome pack and other considerate touches. While these are highly appreciated, it is politely noted that such gestures are not guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

Compass Point, a well-positioned, two-bedroom bungalow rests on the outskirts of Camborne, Cornwall. Located near the town's amenities, Compass Point offers a well-equipped base for a family getaway, inviting four guests to enjoy the Cornish coastline. Benefit from a private driveway for one car, where you can unload your belongings, ready to make your way through the enclosed, pretty front garden. Step indoors and venture to the heart of the home, the kitchen/diner, where you can rustle up brunch to be enjoyed at the breakfast bar, or prepare some of your favourite recipes, ready to gather in the formal dining room. If the weather allows, be sure to take advantage of the private, rear patio area, dotted with beautiful blooms and exotic plants, an oasis for alfresco afternoons. As day turns into night, cosy up in the sitting room, with the electric fire to light on cooler evenings, before sloping off to sleep in either the double or twin bedroom. A sleek shower room is on offer, where you can prepare in style, ready to explore the local area, arriving to a selection of shops and eateries to ease your stay. Spend the day at the coast, reaching the breath-taking Basset's Cove, where you can join the Carvannel Downs hiking trail, stopping off at the popular Portreath Beach, or reroute to discover the National Trust vantage point of Godrevy, for elevated, clifftop views. Tehidy Country Park lies within easy reach of Compass Point, with miles of paths and 250 acres of woodland, making it the largest area of woodland in West Cornwall; there is also a lake, a café, and a picnic area, making for a lovely day out with family or friends. With Hayle nearby, be sure to brush up your local knowledge at the Hayle Heritage Centre, entertain all of the family at Paradise Park and JungleBarn Cornwall, bird watch from RSPB Hayle Estuary, or stroll along the golden sands of Hayle Beach, whilst St Agnes rests north and Praa Sands south. Compass Point is a fabulous gateway to Cornwall.

Camborne lies in the heart of a former mining community and was well known for its “Queen of Cornish Mines" - the Dolcoath copper and tin mine, the deepest in Cornwall. Today, Camborne is home to Heartlands, a community space covering 19 acres and scattered with remnants of the mining industry, providing a free space for visitors to explore the heritage of Cornwall, browse art and craft projects, stroll through the gardens and sit and share a picnic or enjoy lunch at the Red River Café. From Camborne centre you can follow an interesting town trail, or spend the afternoon in the museum before visiting the array of shops and pubs. A short drive from Camborne brings you to a wealth of sandy Cornish beaches including Portreath, Gwithian and Porthtowan. Camborne is ideal for exploring Land’s End, the Lizard Peninsula, Truro and the Eden Project, which are all easily accessible by car, ideal for a day trip.

Gardens are so well kept, was nice to beable to sit outside. Plenty of parking for 1 car. Was left a lovely welcome pack. Ian came to introduce himself which we thought was such a nice thing to do. A fantastic location for exploring Cornwall. Definately would stay again and recommend to family and friends.

You have everything you need to cook a meal and it's warm and cosy when the nights get chilly. Ian and Claire left very clear and easy to follow instructions for everything and left us a very nice gift basket and milk in the fridge which was very thoughtful and much appreciated.

The hosts were very welcoming, meeting us on arrival, they gave us a quick tour of the property covering all the essentials and providing information about local amenities and personal contact number should we have any further questions. The bungalow itself was excellent, extremely clean, each room well appointed and a fantastic decked garden area for relaxing in after a days exploring. The area has excellent shopping facilities and quick access to the A30 and the GWR rail network. Of particular note were the beaches at Godrevy and Gwithian, about 15-20 mins away. Probably the best holiday property we have stayed in, thank you.
