Guests say

Guests have enjoyed their stays at Woodcutters, praising its cosy comfort, beautiful garden, and the thoughtful welcome packs. The hot tub is a highlight, despite some maintenance issues. The property's cleanliness and equipment are well-regarded, though the garden's suitability for small pets varies. The rural location offers peace and wildlife, with some limitations on walkability.

The property is consistently described as clean and well-maintained, with only a minor issue regarding flies on one occasion. The overall high standard of cleanliness contributes to the positive experiences of guests.

The location is appreciated for its tranquillity and natural surroundings. However, some guests noted the narrow lanes and lack of walkability, which slightly affected the convenience of the location.

The property is frequently described as cosy and comfortable, with a well-equipped kitchen and comfortable house. There were minor issues with low sofas and a cooker on a lean, but overall, guests found the property very comfortable.

Facilities like the hot tub and kitchen equipment are generally praised, but there have been some maintenance issues such as a broken bench, a non-working extractor, and a hot tub that was difficult to manage for some guests.

Guests have expressed gratitude for the welcome packs, which added a special touch to their stay. However, as these gifts are based on individual experiences and may not be guaranteed for every stay, they are a delightful bonus rather than a standard provision.

About this property

Launceston 6.2 miles. Tucked away in the rural village of Rezare in Cornwall, a short drive south of Launceston, lies this charming, two-bedroom barn conversion, Woodcutters. Savour your meals at the dining table before you gather to enjoy a film on the Smart TV by the warmth of a woodburning stove. When the weather permits, head outdoors and strike up the barbecue for some alfresco dining or indulge in a dip in the outdoor wood fired hot tub as you gaze up to watch as the starry night sky begins to appear overhead. When sleep calls, a large super-king and a king with en-suite shower offer tranquil sanctuaries wherein you and your loved ones can settle for a well-earned rest. If you can tear yourself away from your fabulous new dwelling, head out to explore what the local area has to offer. A short car trip will take you to the Stoke Climsland Post Office, where you can stock up on homely essentials, whilst the quaint pub of The Springer Spaniel can be reached on foot from your new accommodation, the perfect spot for a hearty pub lunch! For a day out, head to Launceston, an ancient town filled and surrounded by a wealth of notable attractions, such as the historic Launceston Castle and Launceston Steam Railway, the pristine landscapes of Hidden Valley, and the family-friendly Trethorne Leisure Park. Whatever you get up to during your next visit to Cornwall, be sure to book Woodcutters as your base.

Callington is a Cornish market town, rich in mining heritage and overlooked by Kit Hill, the highest point in the area, donated to the people of Cornwall by Prince Charles to celebrate the birth of Prince William. From the top of Kit Hill there are fabulous views across south-east Cornwall as far as Plymouth Sound. Callington is set in the heart of the Tamar Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and offers a good selection of shops, inns and cafes, as well as being the home of Ginsters Cornish pasties. A few miles away, the quaint village of Calstock clings to the steep banks of the river Tamar and is dominated by the splendid Calstock Railway Viaduct, a giant 11-arched stone construction supporting one of Britain’s most picturesque branch lines running through the Tamar Valley. Other interesting places along the river are Cotehele, a beautiful historic house and gardens owned by the National Trust with a small quay and inn, and Morwhellam Quay, a theme park that staged a living history production for the BBC and where visitors can explore the rich mining heritage and watch blacksmiths, potters and craftsmen at work. The pannier market town of Tavistock is only nine miles from Callington and is well worth a visit on your way to a day’s walk on Dartmoor. A splendid base to explore south Cornwall and West Devon.

Very nice welcome cream tea treats on arrival and the friendly owners Paddy & Kitty are available if any help is needed. The dog enjoyed the freedom of the enclosed garden and I recommend trying the hot tub (even in cooler November weather). The cottage is a good base for exploring both north Cornwall and further south - definitely recommend it for future stays.

Paddy and Kitty are wonderful hosts. Nothing is too much trouble for them. The cottage is wonderful. Comfortable and every thing you could possibly want is there. I was so impressed with the kitchen. I am someone who loves to cook and there was everything I needed. The little touches when you arrive truly make you feel wanted and special. The wine was a great choice, the cream tea and lovely coffee. There was milk in the fridge and butter. The lights were on and it all made us feel so welcome. The hot tub is great fun. The television brilliant. The peace and quite tangible. Watching the rabbits, black! And grey amazing. A perfect holiday. We will hope to go back.

Large and private dog proof garden embellished by a hot tub - very popular with the ladies who were walking long distances each day. Great accommodation for 2 couples as the bedrooms and bathrooms are at opposite ends of the open plan living area. Ideally placed for National Trust properties, Launceston and Tavistock with an excellent pub (Springer Spaniel) a short distance away. Owners very helpful. We had a great holiday at Woodcutters.
