The town of Fowey is tucked away in the Fowey river valley, surrounded by woods and fields. While the town is known for its antiques shops and dealers, there are also a number of fine country pubs, restaurants, and a farmers market to be found in the area. Just 3 miles from Lanhydrock House (NT) and gardens, you'll find the Eden Project, shipwreck museum, and Charlestown's tall ship harbour, as well as the picturesque fishing villages of Mevagissey, Fowey and Padstow, with the famous Rick Stein restaurants. With its crashing waves and long sand beaches, the north coast of England's renowned Newquay is an ideal destination for family outings. The area also offers excellent opportunities for river canoeing, biking, hiking, and other leisurely pursuits. Activities like tug of war, Carnival, and outboard motor races for seagulls are also organised by the friendly locals. It is a natural paradise for those who love the sea as the river Fowey winds its way through fields and wooded valleys for an 8-mile journey to the gentler southern coast. If you're looking for a vacation away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist destinations, Lostwithiel is the ideal location.
