Set beside the tidal River Lerryn, upstream from the popular town of Fowey, there are riverside footpaths and woods to explore and easy launching for kayaks and stand-up paddle boards from the riverbank at high tide. The village of Lerryn nestles in a wooded valley where an ancient stone bridge spans the river and steppingstones appear at low tide. The ancient town of Lostwithiel (1.7 miles) is a thriving small town with the River Fowey running through it. Lostwithiel has many craft, antique and boutique shops, along with supermarket, butchers, deli, cafes, pubs, restaurants and takeaways. The coastline is close by with unspoilt, secret beaches and coves such as Lantic Bay and Lansallos beach 6.4 miles away. Other nearby attractions include South West Coast path, Eden Project (7.6 miles), Lost Gardens of Heligan (11 miles) and many National Trust properties and gardens such as Lanhydrock (4 miles). Further afield, you will find the bustling town of Fowey, home to the Fowey Aquarium, St Catherine’s Castle, the National Trust site of Fowey Estaury and the stunning Readymoney Cove. Little Oaklands is an ideal base from which to explore Cornwall’s beautiful countryside and coast.
Neighboring woodlands and meadows provide a tranquil setting for this little, rural village in Cornwall's Fowey Valley. There are numerous antiques shops and dealers in the town, as well as a plethora of rural taverns, restaurants, and a bustling farmer's market. Only three miles separate Lanhydrock House & Gardens (NT) from the fantastic Boconnoc House, Eden Project, Shipwreck Museum and Tall Ships Harbour (Charlestown), as well as the charming fishing communities of Mevagissey, Fowey, and Padstow, all of which feature world-famous Rick Stein restaurants. You may enjoy a day out in Newquay's famous crashing Atlantic surf, along with long sandy beaches, stunning shoreline and river canoeing in the north coast. There are also opportunities for hiking, biking and leisurely walks in the vicinity. Activities like tug of war, Carnival, and seagull outboard motor racing are also popular among the locals. The river Fowey flows 8 miles from the town to the softer southern shore, a natural paradise for those who adore the sea. It passes through meadows and wooded slopes. Losswithiel is a great option for anyone looking for a vacation away from the hustle and bustle of the popular tourist destinations in Cornwall.

Sheila and Mark greeted us on our arrival and there was a lovely homely welcome basket of goodies to settle us in. Stunning landscaped gardens and our lab, Henry, made friends with Alfie, their lab, over the garden gate. Great location and certainly a recommendation to friends and family if they decide to visit Cornwall. We would definitely stay again!

Mark and Sheila are wonderful hosts and are always there to meet you and make you feel welcome. The property is always clean and comfortable and we will be back hopefully next year.

The Bungalow was very well stocked with everything we needed. The beds were so comfy! A clean and tidy and homely place to stay with such a fantastic well kept secured garden and private decking area. We have already booked for next August as it was perfect for our needs. A stunning area of outstanding beauty indeed. Nice and peaceful with lots of wildlife too which we enjoyed.
