Wisteria is a well-equipped and beautifully furnished cottage in St. Austell, Cornwall, praised for its cleanliness, comfort, and stunning views. Guests appreciate the thoughtful touches, including welcome gifts, and the property's proximity to local attractions. Some minor issues with maintenance and facilities were noted, but overall, guests had enjoyable stays and would recommend the property.
Guests consistently reported that Wisteria is very clean, with several reviews highlighting its tidiness and well-maintained state. The high level of cleanliness contributed positively to their overall experience.
The cottage's location is highly praised for its easy access to Mevagissey, local beaches, and attractions like the Lost Gardens of Heligan and The Eden Project. The views and proximity to coastal paths added to the appeal, although parking was challenging for some.
Most guests found the beds and furnishings very comfortable, contributing to a restful stay. However, there were a few remarks about an uncomfortable king-size bed and a rigid mattress, which slightly affected the overall comfort score.
The property is well-equipped with a new kitchen/diner and games room, but some guests mentioned the lack of a dishwasher and issues with plumbing and a new oven. Maintenance responsiveness was good, but the presence of a few teething problems slightly lowered the score.
Guests frequently mentioned and appreciated the thoughtful welcome gifts. It is important to note that such gestures, while common, are not guaranteed and may vary with each stay.

A short drive or a 45 minutes walk will bring you to The Lost Gardens of Heligan:
“Lost to the brambles of time since the outbreak of WW1, this Sleeping Beauty was re-awakened in 1990 to become Europe’s largest garden restoration project. Today Heligan’s 200 acres are a paradise for the explorer, wildlife, plant lover and garden romantic.”
Further afield, it’s only 20 minutes to the Eden Project or 45 minutes to the Newquay’s Fistral Beach.
A walk along the South West Coast Path of around 2-miles north will bring you to the lovely Pentewan Beach for a day by the sea in sunny weather.
Wisteria’s secluded location means that access is via a narrow, unadopted road which is well maintained, but gravel rather than tarmac.
Wisteria is a fantastic property to bring your loved ones to for a fabulous Cornish adventure.

A warning to anyone with mobility problems, there are lots of steep steps, but it is worth it. Very quiet.

The welcome gifts were appreciated. Comfortable accommodation. Well equipped kitchen and excellent main bathroom. The steps up to Wisteria kept us fit! Short walk to picturesque Megavissey. We walked to the Lost Gardens of Heligan and had a lovely day at the Eden Project as well as visits to local beaches and some SW coastal path walks.

The property is really spacious and it was great to have a second living room for the kids. Beds were comfy and showers were great too. Short walk into Mevagissey, which is a really lovely village. I enjoyed reading the books about Meva and its people that were in the lounge. We loved the crabbing in the harbour and popping into all the quaint, independent shops. It's the perfect base if you plan to visit Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Carlyon Beach, etc. We did the walk to Lost Gardens from the house with the kids on their scooters and it was a great day! We didn't have the best weather over the week but there's always plenty to do in Cornwall. I'd recommend Wisteria and would return if we want to visit the area again. The only thing I'd flag is that the parking was a bit difficult for us sometimes with two large cars. The well in the kitchen is also really cool but sadly we couldn't get the remote to work to turn the lights on down there.
