Experience - The Area...
A stylishly furnished early 1800's mid-terrace three bedroom property, Lantern Cottage is an easy stroll down into the historic village of Charlestown with its famous harbour, beach, restaurants and pubs. The property boasts charm and character whilst managing to combine comfort and style for a relaxing holiday. Charlestown itself is the primary filming location for the popular television series Poldark and understandably so given its unique backdrop.
All the amenities of Charlestown are within easy walking distance including a children's playground, a small selection of pubs and restaurants and the Shipwreck and Heritage Centre next to the quayside. St Austell, 1.5 miles, has a wider range of facilities and a main line railway station. The coastal path and two small beaches, one sandy the other more stoney are only a few minutes walk and both the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan are a short drive.
Stay - The Accommodation...
The cottage has a long lawn garden to the front with outdoor furniture to make the most of its sunny, south easterly aspect. From a gated pathway which leads up a long path into the covered porch way, the property is entered by a long hallway where you will find the comfortable living room with open fire, sofa, rocking chairs and views out across the front garden. The kitchen/diner is at the rear of the property with original slate flagstone flooring and smart duel fuel range cooker. The small, enclosed garden to the back also benefits from a sunny position and a Cornish 'outhouse' is provided for the hanging of wet suits and storage of bikes.
The carpeted staircase leads up to the three attractively furnished and presented bedrooms and family bathroom WC. The first bedroom (one step up from the landing) has a small 4ft double bed looking out across the front garden. The second bedroom has a king size bed and again looks out across the front garden. To the rear is a single bedroom with truckle bed facility for an extra child and views out to the back garden and church steeple beyond. The cosy family bathroom WC has a bath, overhead shower and wash hand basin. The property is centrally heated and all rooms with the exception of the kitchen and bathroom are carpeted.
Although there is no designated parking for the property, there is unrestricted road parking to the front is available with the bonus of additional guaranteed parking at the owners property a few hundred yards up the road, if required.
Don't forget...
-This property will accept one small dog only, kept downstairs.
-The property can accommodate up to 6 people using the truckle bed (child use only - maximum 4ft in height).
-Small travel cot provided.
