Guests say

Homelands in Port Isaac offers a cosy and comfortable stay with its well-equipped kitchen, clean rooms, and convenient location. Guests have enjoyed the property's charm, the sun-trap patio, and the picturesque village. While some minor maintenance issues and the absence of a welcome pack were noted, the overall experience has been positive, with many looking forward to returning.

The majority of guests have praised the cleanliness of Homelands, with several reviews rating it highly. One review specifically mentioned a cleanliness score of 10/10, indicating a generally high standard of cleanliness throughout the property.

The location of Homelands is frequently highlighted as a positive feature, with its proximity to the town centre and the harbour. The scenic views and the quiet, car-free environment contribute to its charm, making it a desirable spot for a holiday stay.

Guests have found the cottage to be cosy and comfortable, with comfortable beds and a homely feel. However, some reviews mentioned issues with appliances and fixtures, slightly impacting the overall comfort score.

While the kitchen is well-stocked and the property is generally well-equipped, there have been several mentions of maintenance issues such as broken heaters and appliances. These issues suggest that while the facilities are good, there is room for improvement in maintenance.

The reviews provide mixed feedback regarding thoughtfulness. Some guests were disappointed with the lack of a welcome pack, which is not guaranteed and varies from stay to stay. As this is not a consistent attribute of the property, a score cannot be accurately provided.

About this property

Homelands is a traditional white-washed stone cottage, located in the picturesque fishing village of Port Isaac. Full of character and charm, Homelands has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, and has a been used as the home of ‘Aunt Ruth’ in the TV series Doc Martin. The front entrance has a small patio enclosed by a white picket fence; a lovey spot to sit when the sun is shining and look down upon the village. Walk through to a cosy living/dining area that has a large stone fireplace and electric fire – perfect for warming up after a walk along the coast. The kitchen has been finished to a high standard, with plenty of space for preparing and cooking food, and a ground-floor shower room also doubles up as a handy utility room. The two bedrooms upstairs, a double and a twin, both have a lovely homely feel thanks to the exposed beams, wooden window shutters, and a tasteful decoration. Port Isaac is only a small village but there are plenty of shops, pubs, and restaurants to keep you entertained and well fed. Within a short drive is the fishing town of Padstow, where you can sample the local seafood in some of the many restaurants, visit the beach, cycle along the Camel Trail, or spend the day at the National Lobster Hatchery. Homelands is a fantastic property for a relaxing getaway on the Cornish coast.

Port Isaac; one of the true Cornish treasures. A beautiful fishing village nestling in a steep sided valley, the old village in the valley remains unchanged from its days of fishing, slate export and smuggling in the previous century. An abundance of small character properties complemented by larger cliff-top retreats, can be found with easy access to the numerous restaurants and shops of the village. The sandy harbour provides an abundance of rock pools as the tide retreats. Only ten minutes drive from the beaches of Polzeath, Daymer and Rock, it is perfect for romantic and family holidays alike. There is ample parking at the top of the village.
