Carbis Bay, a beach community only a short drive from famous St. Ives, is well-known for its stunning expanse of fine, white sand. The Ocean Sports Centre is located on the beach, so if lounging in the sun isn't really your thing, consider renting a kayak or stand-up paddleboard (SUP) and taking to the sea. Or why not treat yourself to a day at the spa at the charming hotel that overlooks the beach and has a wonderful patio where you can sip cocktails in the Cornish sunshine? A fish and chip takeaway, a railway branch line, and a modest selection of neighbourhood stores and eateries can be found in Carbis Bay. One of the most picturesque train rides in the nation takes passengers from Carbis Bay to St. Ives, and the town itself is a terrific place to spend the day because there are so many galleries to visit. The nearby quayside community of Hayle offers family-friendly activities like golf and a wildlife sanctuary. The Godrevy Nature Reserve and Penwith Heritage Coast are also easily accessible from Carbis Bay, giving outdoor enthusiasts and watersports enthusiasts access to even more activities, including as coasteering and birdwatching.
