The Sail Loft in St. Ives is highly praised for its prime location, cleanliness, and thoughtful touches. Guests appreciate the proximity to beaches and the town centre, the comfortable and well-equipped accommodation, and the attentive communication from the host. Some minor concerns about comfort and noise are noted, but overall experiences are overwhelmingly positive.
Guests consistently mention the property's cleanliness, describing it as the cleanest they've ever stayed in, with fresh linen and towels. The high level of cleanliness contributes significantly to the positive experiences.
The location is frequently highlighted as excellent, being close to beaches, the harbour, and local amenities, yet quiet enough for a peaceful stay. Its central position in St. Ives is a standout feature for guests.
While most guests find the property comfortable, there are some remarks about the sofas and noise from adjoining properties. However, the beds are often described as very comfortable, suggesting a generally high level of comfort.
The property is well-equipped and guests appreciate the extra touches like beach equipment and a wet room. Some guests suggest improvements, such as updating the TV, but overall the facilities meet guests' needs well.
The host's thoughtfulness is evident through the provision of detailed information, helpful communication, and treats like a cream tea at a local cafe. While such gifts are warmly received, they are a bonus and may not be a standard offering for all stays.
In the heart of the stunning coastal town of St Ives, in a brilliantly central location with three fantastic beaches within walking distance and the stunning harbour just a stones’ throw away, is The Sail Loft. Once used as storage for fisherman's sails and nets, the property is now beautifully and creatively converted to offer a unique, spacious and stylish three-bedroom home. Seven steps from the lane lead down to a large open plan living/dining/kitchen with well equipped kitchen, beamed ceiling (formed from ships masts!) and flagstone floors; the perfect spot for making plans for the day whilst sat around the large dining table or hunkering down on the sofa after a busy day exploring the coastal paths and local beaches. From the sitting-room a door leads to a good-sized twin bedroom (or king) and open tread, open sided stairs lead up to two further elegant double bedrooms with high ceilings plus a swish family bathroom. There’s an additional wet room and loo by the entrance – perfectly placed for rinsing off salt and sandy adventure. On arrival, once you've negotiated the maze of streets, you can unload right outside the cottage and there is a parking space reserved at the St Ives Rugby Club located around 20 minutes on foot from the house. Once you've parked your car, St Ives has so much to offer it's unlikely you'll want to use it again until you go home! Well placed for exploring the excellent local eateries, traditional inns and coffee houses on the waterfront overlooking the boats in the harbour, exploring the cobbled streets full of galleries (including the Tate modern) and boutique shops or watching the azure surf action on Porthmeor beach or enjoying the water sports at Porthminster this is a brilliant base all year round for families and couples searching for a holiday in this favoured Cornish town.
St Ives is one of Cornwall's most charming port towns. Narrow roads are closely packed with cottages nestled around the quayside, whilst attractions include the Tate Gallery and Barbara Hepworth museum, fantastic beaches, excellent shops, pubs and restaurants. It's easy to see why this is the county's finest tourist resort, with its semi-Bohemian lifestyle and romantic ambiance. Wildlife, wonderful coastal walks, top-notch surfing, and the Celtic secrets of the Land's End Peninsula all within easy reach.
