Guests say

Millbank in Polzeath is cherished for its superb location and the fond memories it fosters. Guests appreciate its pet-friendly policy and the property's potential, despite noting that it could benefit from some refurbishment and maintenance to enhance its charm.

The property was generally found to be clean, but there were comments about a damp smell and the need to clean the log burner upon arrival, suggesting room for improvement in this area.

The location is frequently praised for its stunning views and proximity to the beach, making it a highly valued aspect of the property.

While the property offers a sense of relaxation and lovely views, guests have mentioned issues with furniture comfort and a damp smell affecting the overall comfort level.

Facilities are adequate but several guests reported maintenance issues such as non-working clocks, overgrown hedges, and a lack of a washing machine. The property would benefit from attention to these details.

There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the hosts, so it is not possible to provide a score in this category.

Millbank is ideal for a group of surfers or beach lovers looking for a seaside base from where they can make the most of all the area has to offer. The holiday cottage will sleep six guests in three bedrooms with one bathroom. The master bedroom has a king size bed with en-suite and a door leading out to the terrace. There are two further twin bedrooms and a kitchen providing all you need to create some tasty meals for busy days in the fresh Cornish air or the exhilarating surf. Polzeath has lots of good places to eat all just a stroll away, from fish and chips to seafood specials. Great beach shops selling fashion, gifts or homewares are good for a browse, decent coffee and delicious ice creams are available to take onto the beach to enjoy. If you want to explore the North coast a bit more then why not head over to Daymer Bay, a calm and sheltered bathing beach just around the coast path, which children will love. Or you can head to Rock to try your hand at water sports including sailing, wake boarding or water-skiing. You can also catch the day ferry across to Padstow harbour from here and maybe hire some bikes to cycle the camel trail.

The seaside village of Polzeath boasts a sandy beach, which is bordered by rock pools and is acclaimed to be one of the best surfing beaches in the country. Polzeath itself has a number of small shops, cafes and restaurants, and the South West Coast Path, a 630-mile route, runs through the village. Just over seven miles away is the popular market town of Wadebridge, which is set alongside the River Camel and offers an array of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as North Cornwall's only family-owned cinema. There’s wonderful countryside in the area, with the renowned Camel Trail passing through the town, and the nearby town of Padstow, with its harbour, pastel-washed medieval houses and celebrated restaurants is well worth exploring. Within driving distance is the UK surfing capital of Newquay, with over 11 miles of golden sandy beaches. Polzeath is an excellent base for exploring this part of Cornwall.

The property location is stunning but the property is very tired and none of the curtains hang properly and very poor quality. We had to clean the grate out in the log burner before using it on our first night. The property really needs updating. It only has one shower and for six people that is not ideal. There is no washing machine or tumble dryer which is not great at this time of year. I would also like to add that trying to contact Sykes with any questions was not easy as I wanted to speak to someone not a computer. This long arm service is not helpful you need to actually provide real people at the end of a phone, not through a portal!

However, the double bedroom smells strongly of damp. The ensuite does not have a shower as listed. The place is generally tired and needs a lot of TLC.

It is in need of a little repair now but we have wonderful happy times and hope that we may continue to stay here a little longer - thank you so much.
