Guests say

Lerryn Cottage in Rock, Cornwall, is a spacious property with great potential, praised for its location and living areas. Guests enjoyed the ample space and outdoor amenities, though some noted areas for improvement in maintenance and cleanliness.

Mixed feedback on cleanliness; some guests found the property clean, while others reported issues with cobwebs, a dirty fridge, and a general need for better upkeep. The presence of a damp smell and a dirty BBQ grill were also noted.

The location is highly praised for being well-situated for local amenities and as a base for exploring Cornwall. Guests found the village quiet and friendly, adding to the positive experience.

The property is generally considered comfortable, with plenty of space and a lovely living area. However, some guests mentioned damp smells in bedrooms and issues with beds and furniture that detract from the overall comfort.

Facilities were appreciated, such as the kitchen diner, but there were several reports of maintenance issues like a non-working shower, difficult-to-operate sliding doors, and a need for kitchenware updates. No mention of linen provision affects this score.

There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the property owners or managers, so it is not possible to provide a score in this category.

About this property

Lerryn is a spacious, contemporary style, detached bungalow, close to the centre of Rock village and local shops. The coastline and beaches are a short drive away, making this holiday property an easy and convenient place to stay. Attractively furnished and equipped to a high standard, the property sleeps 8 people in 4 bedrooms. Large L- shaped open-plan living areas lead out to a south-facing enclosed patio and lawned garden, useful for outdoor games and meals in the sunshine. A vaulted ceiling adds to the feeling of space in the open plan living area; the stylish black and white themed kitchen is a great space with lots of work surfaces for prepping a holiday feast. Sink into deep sofas in the Lounge; light the wood burner on cooler winter evenings. The bedrooms have uncluttered, modern decoration for a restful night's sleep. Pivotal to the attractions of the North Cornish coast, Rock is a fashionable seaside resort, popular with sailors, golfers, walkers and those who love a traditional bucket and spade beach holiday. Many hours can be happily spent exploring the banks of the Camel Estuary, be it going upriver towards the mussel and oyster beds of Porthilly or downriver past beautiful Daymer Bay. Climb to the top of Brae Hill for amazing views over to Padstow, out to sea and across St Enodoc golf course. The rock pools and gullies at Greenaway give plenty of crabbing and shrimping opportunities and once at Polzeath, the white waters keep surfers and swimmers amused and challenged.

Rock is a desirable and much sought after coastal village located on the north eastern bank of the River Camel opposite the famous harbour town of Padstow which is easily reached by a regular ferry service. The summer home of royalty and celebrities offering top class restaurants and quality shops, the real draw is the array of watersports including sailing, water skiing, windsurfing and angling. Continuing on a sporting theme, the golf course at nearby St Enodoc is considered to be one of the best in the country. With an abundance of world class beaches all within a short radius it is easy to see why Rock holds its popularity.

This was an unplanned last minute booking for us. They were very helpful when trying to accommodate my need for linen and towels. The property it's self was in a perfect location, it's disappointing that it doesn't have any linen or towels considering it has such an excellent laundry. The property does need a deep clean though, there were cobwebs across all the windows inside, the floor in the living room had not been cleaned and you could see all the dust and crumbs under the settee. This didn't put us off though as we were able to clean it ourselves. The house was a perfect size so no other complaints If anyone stopping needs a laundry company I would highly recomend KN Laundry Cornwall and it is situated on the way to the house or they deliver.

Very very clean. The whole family enjoyed the time in Rock. Only real area of concern is the sliding doors from the kitchen to the garden. This was too difficult for most of us to slide and open and would have struggled if we didn’t have strong members of our party. These do need fixing. The beds are comfortable however the bedrooms could do with decorating. Thank you.

The bedrooms all smelt of dog urine and were musty..our miniature Jack Russell (bitch) is fully house trained and although we travel with a dog this is the first time staying in a dog friendly cottage that smelt of urine in the bedrooms where dogs are supposedly not allowed . Tired dirty carpets old furniture no headboard on master bed and single beds in front bedroom . We’ve come to expect a far higher standard than this with John bray. The iron also had to be reported on arrival as it was it such a terrible state (looked like a safety hazard) which was replaced promptly. For once we were grateful to leave the property at the end of our stay. The living area was the only saving Grace. We most definitely would not return! Extremely disappointed…I also have photos of the disgusting state of the duvet in the other main bedroom which is fit for one thing …the bin.. it had multiple large questionable stains on it .. we had to use another duvet… however under no circumstances should that particular duvet have been there for people to use… utterly disgraceful and a hugely disappointing stay… this property needs serious attention in the bedrooms. I’d be interested to hear your response to these issues.
