Heron Cottage in Colyton is highly praised for its cleanliness, central location, and cosy atmosphere. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, the proximity to local amenities, and the friendly community. While parking can be challenging, the cottage's charm and the thoughtful welcome pack make it a delightful base for exploring East Devon.
Guests consistently note the cottage as spotlessly clean, indicating a high standard of cleanliness throughout the property.
The central location is appreciated for its convenience to shops, pubs, and restaurants, though parking is noted as a challenge.
The cottage is described as cosy and comfortable, with a super comfy bed and a warm environment once the heating is figured out.
Facilities are generally good with a fully equipped kitchen and entertainment options, but some issues with the shower, DVD player compatibility, and heating instructions are noted.
The mention of a welcome pack suggests thoughtfulness, but as gifts are not guaranteed, guests should enjoy them as a delightful bonus rather than an expectation.

1. The shower tray is extremely slippery when wet and probably the reason the rh shower door is broken from its bottom runner. Would definitely benefit from a slip mat. 2. The dvd player and TV in the lounge are incompatable, dvd is AV o/p and the TV is hdmi. 3. The operating instructions for the heaters in the cottage are not for the 2 types installed. One type is a digital option panel with 16+ options, not good. 4. Parking is a serious problem in the town centre including Lower church street, it is very much 1st come 1st parked and parking availability is very limited. There is a small car park in dolphin road at £25 for the week but if you go out for the day there may very well be no spaces on return.

We enjoyed our stay just as much as the first. The cottage is very cosy, spotlessly clean from top to bottom, and it enjoys a central position in the village. Everything you could possibly need was on hand in the fully equipped kitchen. Also lots of DVDs for both adults and children (DVD player provided) in the cottage and linked into the new HDTV. WiFi is also provided, as was a number of board games and books to keep everyone occupied. All amenities are within a short walking distance. Including two pubs, fifty yards in either direction. We ate most nights at The Kingfisher where the food was great and the portions big. Lots of fresh locally caught sea food was on the 'Specials' menu. Best to book beforehand especially on weekends. Take a walk around the village where you'll find many interesting old streets with lots of history. We found everyone we met to be very friendly and always ready to have a chat. We would definitely recommend Heron Cottage. It's a great place to stay, as is the village of Coltyon, as a base to explore the wider region. We will definitely be back and will now be looking out for dates in 2025 to return.
