This comfortable, single-storey Honiton cottage is an annexe to the owners' traditional Devon farmhouse, and is situated in a peaceful, rural setting on the outskirts of the hamlet of Wilmington near Honiton. Accessed down a half-mile driveway, this Honiton cottage annexe enjoys a peaceful location, alongside a small stream, and bordered by green meadows and grazing sheep, so you feel like you're right in the heart of the countryside. This Honiton annexe has its own private entrance and a private garden area, ideal for sitting outside in the morning sun, while the inside is decorated in a traditional style and offers a great base for touring this lovely area. The hamlet of Wilmington has a traditional country pub, while Honiton is just 4 miles away, and offers traditional lacemaking demonstrations, shops and pubs. A fifteen minute drive from this Honiton cottage will take you to Seaton on the magnificent 20 mile stretch of Jurassic Coast with rugged cliffs and pebbly beaches. Or why not visit some of the interesting villages in the area such as Ottery St Mary, seaside towns of Sidmouth and Lyme Regis, Axminster with its traditional market and River Cottage produce shop or Dalwood with beautifully landscaped gardens? This traditional Honiton cottage is a rural retreat in an ideal location for the gentle pursuits of East Devon's coast and countryside.
Honiton is a delightful market town in East Devon, with plenty to offer visitors. It lies in the valley of the River Otter and is surrounded by rolling Devon hills, green wooded valleys and plenty of scattered farming villages. Honiton has an attractive High Street stretching almost 2 miles, and lined with individually owned shops, pubs and restaurants. Honiton has been famous for lacemaking since the reign of Elizabeth I and still has a few lacemakers in work today - visitors can see some fine examples of antique lace in the towns Allhallows Museum.
