Sheldon 0.5 miles. A fishermans paradise! A rustic lodge overlooking a beautiful lake and set in woodland within the grounds of the owner's trout farm, half a mile from the picturesque hamlet of Sheldon, and seven miles from Honiton. In a peaceful rural setting, with just the birdsong and countryside sounds to interrupt the quiet, this lodge will appeal to nature lovers and fishermen alike. With wood floors throughout, there is a sitting room with comfy sofas and views over the lake, a neat, compact kitchen and a double bedroom with shower room. There is plenty of space around the lodge to sit and gaze out over the lake, or wander into the woods to spot the woodpeckers. Surrounded by the Blackdown Hills, this is a fabulous area to explore on foot or you can drive into nearby Honiton, which is steeped in history, where youll find plenty of small independent shops, a magnet for antiques dealers and bargain hunters from all over the world, so you could spend hours browsing or bagging a bargain. A stay in this countryside retreat will refresh and inspire you.
The Hills are a nationally important landscape and were designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in recognition of the special qualities of its natural and built environment. Being relatively unspoilt, the Hills offer a rare sense of timelessness. A network of hedges, mature hedgerow trees and small copses link a rich mosaic of semi-natural habitats. The area is perfect for walks, cycling and horse riding where the quiet bridleways and byways offer many opportunities to explore and enjoy the locally distinctive buildings, archaeological remains and natural flora and fauna. Sheldon is centrally located to explore attractions further away, such as the City of Exeter with its ancient Cathedral, High Street shopping and arts centres. Historic Honiton is also nearby, giving you a chance to find out more about the honey exports that gave the town its name and, a few miles south, you'll find the unspoilt beaches of Exmouth and the rest of the Jurassic Coast.

Breakfasts and evenings spent overlooking the lake, watching for the abundant wildlife were an excellent start and end to our days out. No light or noise pollution ensured a good nights sleep. Would stay again and recommended without hesitation.

When we stripped the bed prior to leaving we found heavily stained pillows, a very inaccurate description on website & no response to my email sent to Sykes, will not be using this company in future!
